had my keart for 3 hrs already broke something... :(

Exactly. My son or daughter or usually both will come walking back up out of the pasture and report on what part is "broken." I don't remember working on my go kart near as much when I was a kid as I work on theirs. I guess everything was built better back then.

    Torque converter problems

The 40 series is symmetrical. I ordered the belt off ebay as it seems I always get things delivered quicker if ebay is involved, instead of ordering directly from a website. There were no listings for Comet belts when I got that one. Lubing seems to have helped, but it's been cold and the...

    rear wheels locked

If it's got a torque converter on it, see if the drive is still engaged (grabbing the belt) even while the engine is off. If it is, everything "locks" up.

    Torque converter problems

I'll break it down and lube it. I do remember that even after I cleaned it those brass bushings weren't moving as freely as I thought they would. The belt spacing is 10 1/8". I had to measure that to order the belt. It had a regular V belt on it when I bought it. The belt may be somewhat to...

    Torque converter problems

I did that a couple weeks ago. Used the wire brush on a bench grinder. Polished that sucker.

It may be, I'll lower it and see.

    Torque converter problems

Yes, it has 2 (maybe 3) brass or bronze bushings where the belt rides. They are narrow bushings instead of one wider one like a 30 series.

    Torque converter problems

I started a thread a few weeks ago about the torque converter on the used go kart I bought for my kids. The drive pulley wasn't properly lined up and the belt was wrong, per a response I received on the thread. I got the correct belt and made and installed a bushing on the motor shaft to line...

    Lock Collar Alternative?

I figured everybody knew about Anti Seize but thought I'd throw that out there just in case. That's not a tip, that's life changing advice. LOL Depending on the brand it may also be called Never Seize.

    Lock Collar Alternative?

Before you "permanently" install the lock collars that you purchased, brush the inside of the collar or the shaft where the collar will go with Anti Seize. Next time you have to remove them you will have little or no problems. I never install a bearing, pulley, or anything on any shaft on any...

Noob need help finding a cheap welder.

My brother and I own and operate a small metal fab shop and we use the anti spatter spray on some stuff. The best I have used is in an aerosol can. It is not soap and water. It has some sort of oil in it and smells sort of like fish. Maybe fish oil? LOL Regardless of whether you use the...

New member, old kart, need some help please

Thanks for all the help. I don't know the size of the sprocket or the tooth count on it. Without those numbers is there any way for you guys to estimate the top end speed on this go kart? Right now it runs about 20 mph, which is definitely fast enough for my 10 year old son. I imagine that...

New member, old kart, need some help please

Thanks for the help and info guys. Now I've got to figure out what size belt to get. I figure I can cut a spacer from tubing to adjust the TC outward.
