At work, the primary weldor quit the Fri. Before last. The new guy that was on tryout through a temp service managed to get himself fired today for welding on a couple of Ni-Al bronze propellers using 308 stainless steel filler rod. Needless to say, those three are now scrap. And since I made a point of pulling all the stainless out of that booth (and told my boss that I had), he had to get it from the rod locker in central store's.
Just to prevent such an occurrence, I hadn't told him where we stored it, just told him to come get me if it came up. The guy who showed him where to get it is in the hot seat.
And I'm stuck as lead weldor (in addition to the rest of my job) until the company can hire someone else....
In the shipping department, we have another saga running....
Last Wednesday, we took delivery of a brand new Toyota forklift. Last Friday afternoon, after 1st shift went home, a driver for the freight division of a major shipping company (think brown uniforms) decided that he didn't want to wait a couple of minutes for one of the guy's on second to load him, and took it upon himself to load his own truck...... Let's just say that it didn't go very well...
The guy on second who was planning on loading him, came around the corner to find that the guy had somehow gotten stuck, and was proceeding to inflict major damage on the forklift, the dock plate, as well as his trailer trying to get unstuck. He pulled out his phone and started taking video.
When the local Toyota dealer got in to look at the damage, they red flagged the unit and pulled the key's. Needless to say, the front office is ready to chew nail's over this one..... If I have a chance I'll get a couple of photos tomorrow, as I didn't get to that end of the building today.....
