And people wonder why I hate certain grades of stainless steel.....
I didn't get as sliced up as J, but I had a
up incident this afternoon...
Photo one show's the bird's nest after the duck and cover. That's where I got the slices on finger's on both hand's defending my face. Those only got band aids to keep them clean until they clotted. Photo two shows the part I was turning.
The material is 304 stainless steel, and its so gummy that the chip's don't snap off, they just snarl up in a scalpel sharp mess. And most of the chip's in the photo came from the bottom of the chip tray, ~two feet below the spindle. They got pulled up through the honey comb in the bed.
From the time the fresh chip snagged the chuck till I shut down the lathe was only a few seconds......

Oh, and I was still bleeding when the phone came out to snap the pics...

Sounds like a good hand full of people at your work need to grow the **** up. I would understand if you're using the CNC machine and jamming tools into work pieces.... but you're not.
