Well....it's garden clean up and compost time.....while youse guys up north are about to hibernate....down here....we are coming out of hibernation and doing the crap we put off when it was 100°f+ in the shade.....

So I got dead peppers and okra plants.....plus all the spring weeds....+ all the summer ones I haven't pulled....

But here's one thing.....that poor old Chipper/shredder.....spends it's life neglected in the outdoors for over a year....and starts after 2pulls and purrs like a kitten.....

Sorry Tecumseh fans....but there's a reason they are out of business....they don't make an engine like that......:stir:

I was bringing the hose around to wet down the layers on the compost....and saw something dart under the weed piles.....

After much digging around...and a lot of luck...I found this little guy...another one of my faves...but REALLY hard to catch.....

I love these little skinks....only see one every couple of years...and this is the first one I've ever caught.....

Well, sorry to bring you down (but, why not :lolgoku:), I picked up a push mower on the side of the road about 2 weeks ago with a tecumseh vantage 35 engine; the primer bulb was shot so, I just changed the whole carb for one I had laying around, adjusted all the settings, got it running great, put it aside & placed a for sale ad...

A fella came to buy it yesterday; I pumped the primer 3 or 4 times, pulled the cord & off it went; he was happy, handed over a 50 without any questions...

That made me laugh......animals are almost as crazy and
and silly as Democrats......

BTW..... A little "private" joke...... 3 kids saving a drowning man.....

Just saw that same sex marriages is going to the Supreme Court.....

A guy....(obviously a Congress man or a Senator....I just didn't catch who he was....).... brought up a heck of a good point......

He said that marriage is not a Constitutional guaranteed right....or it would be extended to include 15 year olds....WOW!!!!

He's 100% right in my book......and the main point is....we were all created equal....but .....that doesn't mean that we can't designate different rules for different people......

We don't let criminals vote or own guns....(at least legally)....and personally....I think we give too many PRIVILEGES to people that are here illegally.....but ....there are some restrictions on them.....

Ok....so....marriage is a sacred thing.....but also a legal thing.....and this is the part the gays want changed.....and sorry...no way.....don't even go there.....

To be honest.....although I have known some gay couples....and had gay and bisexual friends.....I can't in any way think it's truly an acceptable behavior....but a tolerable one....that I don't have to witness....and is almost victimless.....

So.....my take is this: "Being gay is not a choice....but a tendency that they are born with.." .....Ummmm.....well....really???

So many of us are born criminals and murderers....but we just don't do it.....and those that do....well....they just couldn't help themselves....right???

So....the bible says it's wrong....society says it isn't right....so screw making deviate behavior legal....

Rant over.....

Doug .. sometimes I feel like you're living under a rock!

What's that bulls-shirt (yes, basketball.. red, not orange)??

This is EXACTLY the same like saying blacks are not allowed in the bus..

Marriage is NOT a sacred thing, it simply isn't since if it was it would be impossible to be divorced, and you my friend are not against divortion, are you?

And do not bring up the bible.. do not even get me started!
That book is full of allegories, that you can interpret in BOTH ways..
But since you did.. the ONE person that in my religion is -by gods will- allowed to make the christian rules is the pope!

And here's what he said when he was asked about if being gay was wrong:
"Well, if god didn't wanted people to be gay, he wouldn't make that many of them"

And AFAIK he blessed many gay couples in his time as a priest...
(and now opened the debate to allow christian marriage for gay couples)

Your sexual preference is hardcoded to your brain tissue
(and with hardcoded I mean by birth, it's not something you learn.. it's literally the amount of braintissue in your 'sex'-region)
you can't willingly change that..
You can ignore your tendency, of course..
you can choose to not follow that tendency (well most of it.. you can't stop yourself from falling in love though)
Anyways.. it's basically the same as being left handed...
you can ignore that urge to use the left hand and it was 'illegal' to use the left hand at one point in time as well. kids have been beaten to write with the right hand.
And that too was a "the bible says it's bad" reasoning.

WHY??
Because some brickhead has the right to decide what feelings you have, that your brain has evolved the wrong way and you're lesser than him?

Know what?
Personally I think that half of the homophobes out there are just gays afraid of their very own feelings!
Love and hate are triggered in exactly the same brain region, by very similar hormones...
just saying.

Now.. legal rights...
finally something we agree upon, Society makes the rules (at least hopefully)
and if soviety agrees upon something being "legally allowed" then it is.
15 y.o. marriage was legal for centuries... because people didn't have much chance to get older than 40 so society decided a 15y.o. is grown up enough..
Puberty hit, a.k.a GOD decided that it's time to replicate, thus 15yo should have sex (and that meant marriage back then)

Well, society agreed upon changing that over the time, so it was shifted from "puberty hit" to "puberty is over" and that generally is between the age of 18 and 21 (notice something?)

Society can change the rules.. and gay people are part of that very same society,
so they do as they should.. they ask over and over again to have other people agree upon their request.

And what they ask is nothing really.. a piece of paper not even worth the ink it soaked up in a few years from now..

So why bother fighting against it?
You felt like a better man when you were married?
Was marriage something sacred, something extraordinary special for you?

I have an opinion on that too ;)
Men and women are NOT equal.. they're not (luckily I should add ;))
but unfortunately they do not even talk the same language sometimes...
I do not understand my wife every once so often, and I'm sure she feels the same way about me.
And from what my friends say.. it's exactly the same with their beloved wifes as well.

Now, I do not feel the same about my friends, when they say something, I know EXACTLY what's meant, I don't need to go fishing for subtext or subliminal messages...

A gay couple does not have to face that problem.. and I think (I can't tell for obvious reasons) they have a better chance of not being divorced because of "miscommunication" after the first few years.

marriage sacred thing.. I can't believe you said that sitting in a country where I can marry a hooker pi55drunk in las vegas in an instant....
because it's legal...
GOOD LORD!

Ahhh......well....I don't disagree with much of what you said.....but.....

My point was not that being gay was wrong or not hard wired in the brain of those that were....but that it's a deviation of what society considers normal....and I don't believe that every individual has the right to everything everyone else has.....

A Pope is just a title.....a badge is just a piece of metal.....a doctor is only a doctor because of a piece of paper......but they are what they are and the titles and papers are respected because not everyone qualifies.....

There is another side to legal marriage....it's meant to keep the family core together while the child is being raised....something gay couples cannot do naturally.....

And yes Alex....I do believe marriage to be a sacred thing....and took my vows seriously....even though my ex-wife did not...(twice now)....????

My other point is that some people seem to be hard wired for homicide from birth.....and possibly....just couldn't go against that nature....

What about rapists?

I'm saying that letting gays get married legally dilutes the already disrespected institution of marriage.

And I do not believe in divorce....I believe it is a sin as well.....

I don't say something else cannot be "hardwired" as well
(mainly because I don't know.. as hard as it's to believe I do not know everything ;))

The point is: it's perfectly okay to limit the rights of a person in case letting him do what he feels like is harmful to someone else.
That's exactly why society came up with rules in the first place.
No other reason for "inventing" some omnipresence with superpowers that watches your every step even noone else is currently watching you.
"He (She.. IT?)" makes the rules and you need to obey if you don't want your eternal soul to rott in ****.
killing and raping I'd consider harmful.. kissing a same sexed person.. not so much.

Well marriage has very different aspects, one is raising kids TOGETHER
(many gay couples do so legally in the U.S. btw)
having offspring TOGETHER is NOT, never was, and never will be mandatory for a marriage.
Think the other way around.. would you deny marriage to a heterosexual couple because one or both partners are not fertile, or just not willing to have and raise kids?
I don't think you would...
Would you say a marriage is of lesser value, if for one reason or another said infertile couple has to adopt a child?
Again, I doubt it.
Raising a child should be a privilege.. I agree on that, but you cannot deny any crackwh**e to give birth to a child, you cannot prevent pedophiles to have and even raise kids (and frankly I'd want that to be possible!!)
All you can do is prevent them from adopting a child, and maybe take a child they have away (if someone cares enough to tell the authorities soon enough)

You also allow single men and women to raise a child without marriage.. and that's perfectly okay and socially accepted as well.
And you socially accept (at least officially) GAY people to raise children too.

What you do not want is that piece of paper... because....

Sorry, I still don't get it.

You don't have to tell me that gay couples can raise kids.....never said they couldn't....but conceiving one NATURALLY is a physical impossibility....at least for both parents at this time....AFAIK....

My point was and is....that marriage is a tradition...put in place for many reasons....and...I don't like that stepped on....

It's not just the piece of paper....(anyone can print one up nowadays).....or the fact they want to call themselves married....but I just can't get behind it....it's just wrong....and people don't take the marriage vows seriously enough these days as it is.....it's like friggin fair weather sports fans.....yeah...OK....we're married.....until something isn't going great.....

So.....I'm not going to try to explain it to you, try to convince you otherwise, or ever change my mind.....

It's a little bit like religion....(sacred....remember? )....so if a drunk takes over the confessional....that's OK?

As far as my opinion on the subject... I 100% agree that people don't take it seriously enough. However, there's no way to argue that people who are actively fighting laws because they want to be married aren't serious about it.

Perhaps it would be a wise move on the part of those who feel it's deviated from its roots (I assume this would primarily be the Christian faith?) to essentially re-create the concept of marriage to suit the vision they want it to suit, being specific to their own community, as there's no denying that the concept has changed by being adopted by the public at large and becoming primarily a government institution.

I will not get into the mythical religious part of this just the ******* govt. or political bull**** part that decides that it must be LEGAL for gay marriage. Our country of FREEDOM should not decide who has the freedom of marrying who they want to. It is their choice to marry who they want.
If its ok for gays to fight for our country there should be no reason for them to fight for their choice.

Freedom of choice,
Right to exercise one's freedoms in any manner one may choose except where such act may obstruct or prevent others from exercising their freedoms, put oneself or others in danger, or exceeds a statutory limit.
