Well. ...I was just giving my little turtle some treats.....and it got me to thinking. ...

On a different forum. .... (actually a betta forum)....someone posted up a question about yellow bellied turtle diet......

I responded by saying that diet is the last consideration in turtle care....given proper housing....they can do quite well on a good commercial turtle food. ....I also commented on how I give my turtle dried shrimp for treats......

Of course. .....some "expert" had to come back with how turtles live 40-50 years and feeding them only commercially prepared food was like people only eating meat and chocolate and would knock 5 years off their lifespan. .....

Well guess what? ????? I don't think my life span is going to be 35-45 years from now. ....and I have this turtle to enjoy him....not to serve him. .....

So.......there's always some fanatics on forums. ....that want to go overboard. ....what they don't realize. ...is that I posted that from experience. .....by raising up a couple of yellow bellied sliders from hatchlings to too big to keep. ....so it's like....really?????? How do you know? ??? Did you raise two different turtles and feed them different diets for 50 years?????

Is that a Beta Betta forum, or has it been around for a while? 'Cause you know, after three days, fish and guests stink.

I have caught and released/relocated 10 of those guys this year.
The 11th one was a real vicious S.o.b. he unfortunately was dealt with.

Poboy, good luck getting the "wild" out of Clayton. By the time they've gotten that size, they like their freedom. Although I'm sure he would enjoy being released in your kitchen.

I had a few of those and I hand raised one from 2 weeks old. If you don't get them when they are a week or 2 old your screwed. Meaner than all heck and just about the time you figured your buddies and giver of the food, you put your hand in the cage to feed them and get back a bloody stump! The one I hand raised thought he was a dog. He was raised with 2 dogs. When I would get mad at him and start yelling at him he would sit on his but, cock his head and look up at me and quickly raise his right paw for shake. Whenever he met some one new or a new animal he did the same thing sit and offer up the paw. Goofy as all heck and I laughed my but off watching him.

Yeah....I'm just crazy...not stupid....so...bye Clayton......

As far as what my standard answer is......."Tastes just like Iguana ".....A frog tastes like a frog.....a squirrel tastes like a squirrel......and it gets worse.....there are two animals that can taste dramatically different depending on which part you eat....(meat wise).....the most dramatic of which has got to be freshwater eel.....followed by alligator......

So.....to answer the question....for once and all.....I'll submit another to put it in context.....that everyone should understand....."What does Pork taste like?"

Describe that.....:popcorn::popcorn:
