It definitely feels good to have everything under one roof, In stacks of tens and hundred plano type boxes. I also love scavenging parts and stuff that might come in handy, but they survive in my drawer only till as long as my mom sees them and decides to throw them out.......

Anyway- after the divorce I caught another one. I put it in a rabbit cage in the living room. Fed it cat food and took it out and put it on my lap and petted it every night. It didn't work out. Mean little bessurd. I wound up catching 3 other babies over time and trying to make pets out of them. I kept trying to get a female to see if they had a different disposition. I would think I had one and month later it would develop a sack.I finally did get a female and raised her from a little baby to full grown.

So when you first get one they twist and hiss and bite and poop all over you. ....After time I had this one sitting in my lap- no biting- no pooping, pretty calm.I had a little litter box in her cage she was pretty good about using. I had varying degrees of success with the others and kept every one over a month at least.

But the thing was that they just didn't make good pets. They have a programmed fear in them that they just can't overcome. They became tame but could never enjoy human interaction because of it. But most likely some of those guys running around out back spent some of their childhood on my lap. I usually only catch a glimpse of them now and then as they scurry for cover- but I still like them.

You can take the animal out of the wild...

I don't think I'm going to make it, but I would love to shoot paint on this frame tomorrow, but I don't think I'll make it. It's going to be in the mid sixties, after that highs in the 40's and lows in the 20's. But I'm gonna try. ....

Meanwhile- for something different- I already know how I'm going to restore this steering wheel (- unless someone posts up a better idea ) - but how would you go about it? The vinyl has chunks out of it and of course the chrome is shot........

Meanwhile- for something different- I already know how I'm going to restore this steering wheel (- unless someone posts up a better idea ) - but how would you go about it? The vinyl has chunks out of it and of course the chrome is shot........

I've never had to use it, but many antique tractor magazines list products for that. The question I have is just how long does this need to look "Hollywood"?

No- this will be the steering wheel his wife uses- I plan on a different one for filming. So longevity is a goal....

That was my first thought too. Chrome in a can is the plan- but while tool dip was my first thought- not what I'm going to do. I don't have any for one thing, and like you said- application another. ....

Well easy;
fill the holes in the vinyl using black silicone, if your precise no one will ever notice.
If you want it to look even better make a wrap,
first glue, then sew.

I used white'ish Alcantara (which isn't exactly a good idea)
and because it's a thin material I used some cable wires inside the edging not to rip the seam.
but with vinyl I think you should be good without,
just glue it on properly and let it dry before you add stitches (optional anyways)

I don't need to tell you how to remove rust and make metal shine, I guess

Yeah- I know how to make metal shiny- I justt have a hard time getting shiny pocket metal.

Still- it might be interesting to see how others might approach it.

cut a piece of soda can and wrap it around the steering wheel as a "width template" add silicone, and evenit out with your template,
go little by little

Well it is supposed to be a waterfall somewhere in Germany. Being as my uncle found it as a tourist- I thought maybe it was a common knowledge thing- but maybe it's a local thing.

Anyway, he gave me a Polaroid of it and wanted a painting. After I got through with it, I decided he was a jerk (long story) and just kept it for myself But I've always been a little curious about it - beautiful waterfall.

I painted it in '74- so who knows- could be a lake now.

Sid- You're the best! No need to look any further! That is it. I entered that in the secondary schools art competition and it took 3rd place (2, 500 entries).

Okay, mine where almost as bad as your's and this is what I ended up with using said technique:

I made the mistake to wrap it in light tape before I applied the glue
It's actually foam not vinyl padding that was missing, so I thought it would make sense... ah well.

Also I wasn't very accurate on the tan seems
(my very first time on the sewing machine)
The blue stitches I made by hand.. that isn't too bad I think

Around the bars...

And if you look closely you can spot the cable


But of course, the very same day I finished the last seem...

I wasn't able to remove it (it's glue!)
and it never made it into my car obviously
