Oh happy days!

I just finished off a bowl of chicken foot soup, hung up the phone on a fellow member after an awesome verbal exchange, and THEN found E-mail notifications from this website in my inbox.

See- I haven't gotten them since I joined. I had figured out ways to get around that- but really wanted instant E-mail notification. I must have done something right lately- (been trying) -to kick start it.

Anyway- it all adds up to a great day- in preparation for a cold, crappy night. Thank God for electric blankets. ......

Kinda a surreal afternoon. There's an Albanian guy that has bought a couple of houses on my block and I have been doing some work on them. So he calls me this afternoon and asks me if I can help him set two doors in a restaurant. So I'm thinking a remodel......

We get there and I see a little over 1/2 dozen cars in the parking lot. ......Maybe workers????? No- we walk into this "restaurant" and the jukebox is playing and there's a half dozen rednecks sitting at the bar. This place does serve "food" (bar food) but it's a Texas version of "Cheers" AND it's open for business......... So we drag in the tools and start the demo.....

The whole time I'm thinking this just has so many ways it can go wrong. .....Anyway- I was amazed at how polite and apologetic everyone was that needed to get by where we were working. ...."I'm sorry- I'll be out of your way in a second....." "Is it OK to use the restroom?" (We were working in the hallway to the restrooms)......

One guy did say "You guys sure are making a lot of noise...." but I just shot back- so are y'all. .." Anyway- bunch of really cool folks- and no problems whatsoever. .......

It was staring to get get crowded as we were leaving and I had an armful of tools and was passing by a guy getting ready to take a shot on the pool table and he drew back a little sooner than I expected and I was a little closer than I thought- so he barely bumped me with the cue stick. He spun around and said- " Oh man- I'm sorry. .." I just said- " no- that was totally my fault." ...... (And it really was......you should always yeild to the backstroke of a pool shooter...)

First off- does anyone have any cerebral gas-ex to spare? I seem to be suffering from cronic brain f**ts today. I blame it on getting pumped up for the Superbowl that never was. I stayed up late thinking that was just pre-game warm-ups.

The good and bad: GOOD- I didn't pay $2500 to watch it. BAD: They didn't pay me $2500 to watch it. BAD: possibly the most boring Superbowl ever. GOOD: History in the making as it was probably the first ever Superbowl where BOTH teams were trying to run time off the clock. Bad: No team that has had a season like the Broncos should have to go out that way. GOOD: It wasn't the Cowboys.

On a little more serious note- my daughter is in the hospital tonight. They are going to induce labor tomorrow. The baby is about 5lbs. and about a month premature. Hopefully- he is OK. Even so- there is a lot of development in the last 4 weeks. So-I ask those so inclined-to say a little prayer for my soon to be grandson......Forget about grandpa- he's beyond help!

Hope everything goes well for her & the little one, although, in this day & age, he should be fine:

My daughter was born, effectively, 8 weeks premmy (she kicked so hard she ruptured her own placenta) & she's now almost 10...

My granddaughter was born 10 weeks prem, she had her first birthday a little over a week ago...

Even still, I'll be thinking of them...

Oh, I get it; my daughter was ok after 24 hours, the only reason she didn't go home after that was she was too small (doctor wouldn't let her go until she hit 2kg)...

My granddaughter, on the other hand, everyone was on edge for a few months...

Wow.. it took me a second to recognize the "auntiness" of your 10yo daughter

Otherwise it reads ...well.. like an american newspaper

Anyways:

The best of luck for your daughter and grandson Doug.
Luckily it's not as big of a deal nowadays as it was just a couple of years ago.
So I'm sure they will be okay.

It's not so much the early term that has me concerned- it's that it's an otherwise normal fetus. And medical science has come a long way- but they can't fix everything. I don't know if that's totally good or bad- if they could-we wouldn't have Pat......

My phone is acting up tonight and I lost two lengthy posts already but- the "Cliff notes" version is this: if you saw the movie "Silkwood" - then you have the plotline down- biggest difference being, Karen Silkwood-nor anyone like her ever looked into what is/was going on here. ....

I'm the only one in my family to ever get Cancer. The lake I took out of and ate thousands of fish (and raised my daughter on) has had a consumption ban on for the last ten years. Year before last- that lake (and drinking water supply) flunked government levels for radiation. 15 years ago a team in hazmat suits set up some kind of pump station two blocks over. Now a large portion of land in the area is fenced with government no tresspass signs.

Yeah- I have my reasons to be on edge.

Not to mention- Google up "Hope for Hunter Gage"- and realize- whether coincidental or not- that child's mother and my daughter grew up together- that's my next door neighbor's grandson.

As I was typing, I wondered how long it would take...

My granddaughter is the offspring of my 23yo son, my grandson is the offspring of my 20yo daughter, then there's the little princess...

Well the kiddo ought to be in surgery now. ... Same thing happened when she was born- wife was in labor for more than a day....and I think maybe they did a C-section forMY benifit.

Anyway -should know something soon....

Alexander has arrived!!!! "It's ALIVE!!!!!!!" The world as we know it shall never be the same...... You will now have to to deal with "mini-poboy"....as well......together we will rule the world. ..ahahaaaaaaaa.

Yes- 5lbs.3oz. and 10 fingers and toes (+1) - and no probs sofar. The human parasite is now free to feast on grandparents and great-grandparents. .....

Grammy is ecstatic- "He's so beautiful! ". I said- "Really?- and here I thought he looked like me."........
