Got tired of messing with the buggered threads on the rear axle.



Ran a die over them to chase the threads.



Much better.

Got my seat finally.
Lot better quality than i thought.



Didn't like the way the lower pan looked so I chewed a part off. The bolts are the right spacing for the springs.



A little bit more knawing and made it fit nicely across this crossbar and the fender.



Still need to clean up the outer flange to fit nicer, but something like this.



I like it.





Dont worry. The tank is crooked and the seat hardware is loose and wobbly. Ill get it all straight later.

That spoked wheel I posted earlier. It would perfectly fit but it was actually a tad smaller than this one.

Im gonna Bob the fender too. Something like this.

Used a regulator and pressurized the tank. Soap water test failed miserably. Pin holes everywhere. Not worth the effort to weld all of em.

Did those exhaust pipes come with it? Looks like it is welded to the fender in that pic and faux, just like the plastic dummy V-twins these came with.

In the nerdy plastic model builder world, to replicate an NMF (natural metal finish) on a B-29 bomber for example, the makers of Alclad II lacquer advise using a gloss black undercoat for best effect. I don't know if they supply their lacquers in bulk cans but they have a lot of finishes, candy enamels, prismatic/holomatic and hot metal finishes.

Its a real metal, dual exit muffler. It has a curve right at the end where it mated with the little 2stroke.
Its got a bolt holding it up right there. And a wrench on the tip.
I need about 3 inches of tube to connect it to the new exhaust.

My eagerness has deflated a bit with the leaky tank. I was liking the shape. Not a boring teardrop.
A buddy found one very similar for mopeds. But any replacements are gonna be in the hundreds of dollars.

Might try that por15 stuff.

About 13 inch long. Typical 2" tunnel.

Well in still working on the basics here. A rolling chassis.
FAIL!

Got this hot mess of a rear wheel.
I got the chain lined up. Had to force the sprocket straight in a few spots to match with this sproter caliper.

I think its a go and give the engine a squirt of flamible dino squeezings and it fires off and the chain jumped ship and bound everything up.

Here's the mess taken apart.



The 3 bolts held the 2 piece rim and the sprocket on the hub all at the same time. It just twisted under the lightest load.

Ordered a whole rear wheel with sprocket and rotor from GPS.

Dont care for the tire though. I think the turf saver looks better at the moment. Its also a tad taller and wider.



So swapped the rubber, and worked on getting the spacing right and the chain lined up.

It came with a 75t sprocket. Good! I had a 60t on it. With the 11t clutch I had a 5.4:1 and now it's a 6.8:1. Should help this little 79.



Had to add some chain. Look ma, 2 master links.



Then made some new tentioner bolts.
Needed full thread and I only had shouldered.
Break out the dies.



Weld on a washer.



And viola! just like that, we have a functional part. As FA would say. Ha.

Is it a real 1-into 2-pipes exhaust? Having trouble because the bike started life as a rolling hoax. My inclination is to believe the lower pipe is welded to a solid upper pipe with no opening.

At this point I am just amazed you’re using the little 79cc.If you ditch the motor at the last minute I’ll understand.

Yes, its a real 2-1.
I have some plans for that little 79. Just cause I have it.
The goal is to make it run with what's on hand.
Still got my eye out for a better Powerplant.

Isn't that the goal around here? Make cool stuff from junk?
