To keep the kids from using it, or anyone from using it, he planted a tree in front of the garage! The Auction crew just finished cutting it down when i got there. so no tree pics. that would of been neat to see. it was a big tree too. so it must of been in the garage for years.

spedo said 52k... could of been original miles or could of been 152k. you never know with old cars and the 99,999 max counter.

I am looking for a fun project car or motorcycle next... Need to sell one of my 4 cars first though. anyone want a POS dodge stratus? 200k miles?

My freebie scrap pile mini find thread brought me here.

Around my area its amazing what you can find on trash nite.
Usually just after i make a new item purchase i leave for work in the early darkness and see along the curb what i just paid full price for.

All three of my mowers.
One agco allis 12 hp rider w/38" deck(perfect for my needs) this retired my old rear engine murray.
1 Self drive troy bilt bagger (i actually returned the new one i bought two weeks prior)
One of them is a vintage brick lawn boy.
Pile of echo wackers.
i just sold the yr old weedeater i found last fall.

A crapsman disc/belt sander.
Crapsman floor jack
5 shop vacs(i stopped picking vacs up)
A ghetto ized schwin stingray chopper bike.

Just some of the finds.

Heres a few items, bicycles seem to be a popular curb side item i only grab the unique vintage ones anymore.

Alot of this stuff was from sold properties that were being cleaned out.

Looks good on a mockup, just make sure forward is not reverse. I'm sure some engines spin clockwise (looking at the PTO), I just don't know which ones.

How would a rear suspension work on a chopper like that? I like the idea, but not sure there is any clearance with the seat. Raising the seat loses the chopper look.

Unless the spring is just decorative, then I like it even more. LOL

Picked this up off the side of the road. '84 Honda 700 Shadow. Actually runs pretty **** well. The guy didn't know what make it was but he had all the missing parts. He got it from an estate sale and thought it looked cool. 1 McDicks coffee later and I own it. Lil wire brushing and some fluid changes she's gonna be a good runner.

Another trash nite mower find.
Just in time too as my old mower (another find) just started giving me petty problems after 4yrs of abuse.

This one was so packed up with dirt and grass i had to hose it off before doing anything.
So i pulled off a few covers to help clean it out.

Thats when i noticed the throttle off ground switch was packed with grass and stuck on, so it had no spark.

I thought it was kinda strange the plug in it looked new and unfired.

Crazy to think they trashed this mower and all it needed was a good rinse with the hose.

At first i thought a electric start push mower is kinda silly but it works so why not.

While it wasn't really a treasure, the other day I picked up an old Microsoft XPS off someone's curb(for free obviously).
The sticker on the front tells me it originally ran Windows Vista, so yeah, it's old! :cornut:
I opened the case to find the hard drives and disc drives were missing, but otherwise reasonably complete.
I did some diagnosing and parts-swapping, and even swapped the power supply out from my working Dell Optiplex GX620, but.....
All to no avail.
After I had swapped the power supply, tried plugging in about three different hard drives, it would power up, but there would be no signal to the monitor(probably bad video card).
It would power up for about 5 seconds and then it would shut back down. :mad:
So I determined logically that the motherboard was bad, and I didn't have another motherboard or anything to transplant it with, plus the chassis had been slightly damaged already.
So, back out to the curb it went!
And so ends the saga of the free XPS..... :lolgoku:

LOL... That is about how my luck has been on the trash treasures LOL... No real scores for me lately. It seems that here in Arizona the scrapers know which neighborhoods have bulk trash pick up on certain nights. They spend their days driving around collecting scrap metal.

I got a hand kart thing from next to an electronic recycling bin. 13 inch tires, one wheel the part that holds the bearings broke off and it's rusty but all tubes hold air and I'll use a harbor freight hub if needed. Can get one from a friend.

Put a graphics card in the optiplex post it on letgo and offer up and ya got a budget gaming pc i had an optiplex and a kid did just that. Also i have a crapton of old broken computers and parts in my room!
