my name is shawn. im 22 years old. i love fabbing but i lack tools so i make do with what i got and have access to. i come from a drifting background, hence my screen name, so i love to get the vehicle i am driving sideways.

with that being said, my neighbor is always racing around nitro rc's, pitbike, gokart, etc..... making me jealous, so one day i found a "dirt dobber" It was a chinese moped..... pretty fun til i bent a valve cause a nut got in the head..... didn't use locktite.... my fault..... so i tore everything apart, replaced it, then i left the head outside cause i was using it to support a gas tank and the scrap metal mexicans came and picked it up along with the aluminum tank...... thanks a**holes. anyways, so yeah, the thing was pretty fun..... 49cc 4 stroke..... grew out of it fast.

i just picked up a gokart, maybe a month back and this thing is another piece of chinese artwork..... it's called. ty rod 2..... it came running with a weedwhacker engine...... it was fun, don't get me wrong but there is so much room for improvement..... kart was 1 wheel drive, what a fail. at that time, the kart was about 75lbs..... its a really little guy.... only meant for 8-10 years olds..... went about 30 when i was in it.... i am 5'7" and weigh 112lbs....

so yeah, the kart looks a little something like this:

got her home and first mod was steering angle...... couldn't deal with the lanky steering on it.

2nd mod, rip out engine. made a phone call to a friend and came across a 110 4 stroke.

find a way to mount engine....... side?? NAH, it was WAY too unbalanced..... so i made a HUGE plate to put it on the back

pulled motor and decided to get 'er started..... VVVVVVVVVVV click for vid

FOCK! time for a rebuild i guess.....
tore apart and looky what i found!

so i yanked piston off, micked it out and it measured 52.2...... ordered 125cc 52.4 so i am getting cylinder honed to have that piston clearance instead of the 110..... also got a domed piston for more compression....... waiting for arrival.

in the meantime, painted:

did wiring harness on motor with momentary pushbutton for starter and rocker for on/off.

also, go live axle kit from BMI karts on the way..... will be here monday.

then tonight, (DON'T FLAME ME, I FEEL IT COMIN!) i thought of a good idear :D why not take the old weedwhacker motor and use it for like a supercharger...... started doing test fits and sure enough it works....
on weedwhacker motor, sprocket is on right and on the 110, its on the left so that give me a perfect mounting point for it to grab the chain....

i measured out throttle cables and the 110 has 1/4 in more until WOT..... so, i will give the weedwacker's cable 1/4 slack so that way when i open it up, they will both be at WOT...... it'll feel like BOOST YO! :D anyways, just a thought, might happen/might not....... thoughts?

yes, i know, i need to run another fuel tank for 2 stroke.....

will keep you guysposted when parts start rollin in :D

hopefully better acceleration. IF i go through with it and it does something, then it stays on. if not then it comes off. simple.

It may work better if the weed wacker is able to rev higher than the main engine, so you will hopefully get a boost of speed and not just torque.

welp, here is a 'mockup' of my setup thus far.
extended 2ft 6in..... really long wheelbase.... but long wheelbase = more drifting if the power comes into my favor! :D

also, don't hate on the 2nd fuel tank and how i held them up :p
so with that being said......
PICS!

can someone please fill me in on the contest?? what does 1st 2nd and 3rd win? i want to enter :D

had trouble finding out wth sprocket i needed for weedwacker.......
went to bike shop, its called a freewheel sprocket [this is where it will lock in 1 direction and spin freely the other direction] .... its teeth were kinda lanky but it should do..... just gotta make sure chain is TIGHT and everything is PERFECTLY aligned. i will need this sprocket because the weedwacker motor goes by rpm's.... does not have gearing like 110...... when it reaches its full potential, roughly 35-45mph, the bigger engine will have the tendancy to pull the smaller one faster IF it had the solid sprocket which will in return, slow the bigger motor down and give the smaller motor a chance of kabooming lol. so since i picked up this sprocket, when the weedie *stole toy story's nickname for it* reaches peak RPM, the bigger motor will want to go more therefore FOOLING the smaller engine into thinking it is coasting not really harming the weedie or robbing power from the 110. i'll post a video shortly of the concept..... a little demonstration

because i have a creative mind cupcake ;):idea2:

lol anyways. guess what came today!

but you know when you order everything at once..... something is bound not to fit.... so here is the bad news :/

SO PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE everyone help me find a rim that will fit THIS hub: http://www.bmikarts.com/item/Lightened-Aluminum-Rear-Wheel-Hub---1-or-1-14-600225-or-600230-2

or even just find a set of wheels that will have a 1inch bore with 1/4 keyway..... only problem then would be my disc brake setup :/

the hubs i have is a 1 inch bore.
i have tires...... this size to be exact, 9x3.50-4. i would really like to use these ones but its ok if you come across a set wheels and tires.

or better yet, a hub that will adapt from my current wheel hub to the new hub. lol

but yeah, on with the engines.....i have been told time and time and time again by people at work that this thing is gonna blow 1 or possibly both the motors....... BUT i still firmly believe it will succeed! :D they say because of the rpm ranges, the thing is gonna blow...... the way i see it, 2 stroke takes over at higher rpms so this is how i have it setup in my head......

-------- represents 4 stroke
====== represents 2 stroke
-=-=-=- both working together

1st gear: --------=-=-=-== shift when bounces
2nd gear: -=-=-==-===-===-===-== shift when bounces
3rd gear: -=-=-=------------ shift when bounces
4th gear: --------------------

that is how i think the powerband will be, but who knows, they might just be right lol..... **** might blow up.... then it'd be time to swap a 125 2 stroke and be done with it lol. just can't be blowin money like that atm lol

well i found what i need.

i found the same exact wheel that i have right now but this one is for a live axle. same dimensions and everything :D
http://www.mfgsupply.com/az1030.html

then im going to order the correct brake setup instead of using the old one......
http://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...-Kart + Minibike Parts + Accessories-_-138330

pretty cheap but i decided to wait til the 18th to purchase them so this will give me time to get the mounts welded up, motors bolted in, live axle bearing flanges welded in, shift linkage welded up, pedals welded in, chop things up on plate to save weight, make throttle and brake cables and hopefully recieve piston and rings by that time

started to bust out some work! :D painted sprockets, flanges, steering components, steering wheel itself, also bottom side of plate to prevent from more rust :D
leaving motor gray/silver, whatever the **** it is, MAYBE polish her up to a chrome..... thats just a ****load of work...... welding as much as i can tomorrow after work. :D HOPEFULLY will have everything done except for pedals and cables. those i could do whenever though.

That paint looks really good on everything, the sprocket especially looks really nice and neat. This is a very interesting idea and I hope it works. looking forward to it...good luck!
