Here's the spring I mentioned....and like I said, usually you just slide the old rotor off and the new one on.....

Here's what you have to deal with on a 4 wheel drive automatic (hubs...not transmission....it's a 5 speed manual transmission.)i

A little bit tougher and more time consuming.....

BTW: I didn't get it right...the very smallest part...(near center/ upper left hand corner) fell out as I was disassembling and I guessed wrong, but all I have to do is remove the cap and turn it around!

So....I was buttoning up the truck and we got these 40-50 mph wind gusts out of nowhere....

Now...I tell people this...and they don't believe me...because often you can't even see Sammy, but he keeps tabs on me 24/7...

Soooo...here's this little dove that got blown out of it's nest...I'm. trying to catch it...but it's running under the truck...well...you guessed it...Sammy covers the other side and grabs this baby dove....

So..I tell him to give it to me...but before I can grab it...it takes off again! !. Sammy is like Ninja cat and is all over it!!! So...this time, the exchange is successful and I have a baby dove...OH YEAH, Sammy can catch a moth and not hurt it...and when he's being my bird dog...he doesn't even ruffle feathers ....

Can you imagine how mind blowing it would be to take him to a dove lease if he does what he does here?

Man....I GOTTA get on these snails PDK....

They'll last. long time (canned) ....but some of the fresh herbs and shallots may not....I still need some chicken stock, then I'll have everything.

The thing is...it'll make 4 servings...sooo...while I can eat two pretty easily, I want to make it fairly early in the day, so I might be able to eat the other two...(I'm not too sure leftover snails are very good.)

Anybody else ever eat snails?

BTW: We're talking 24 large snails here.....

I have a cat who brings in bull frogs, probably up to 1 lb, without hurting them in any way. Its really kind of amazing. Too bad it freaks out the wife.

NOW that's something I REALLY like to eat! And I don't waste the best parts of the frog either! I eat the whole frog (except head and guts)....just like deer, the backstrap is best....and actually, the legs are the toughest, driest part of the frog. People only eat them because there's more meat ,less bones, and less work!

Working on cooking up those snails...sauce has to simmer for 1/2 hour....

This recipe calls for 1/2 pound of prosciutto...(I mean, yeah, escargo is a French thing, and these snails come from France....but.....)

I had to shop around a little just to find prosciutto....and it was $10 for 3 oz. Soooo..I substituted unsmoked ham...Heck...the snails were almost $8 a can and it takes two for this recipe!

And of course, we GOTTA have shallots....(an onion just won't do)... and a fine white Bordeaux....

I can appreciate how come French food is so expensive now!!!! Italian....not so much! A bucks worth of noodles and a couple of tomatoes , a little cheese (the only thing that costs anything) ...and they want $15 for $2.50 worth of food that takes 10 minutes to prepare!

Now...this recipe will serve 4... but...$15 for snails, $10 for wine, (would have been $30 for prosciutto, had I bought it)...$3 for the fresh herbs for a bouquet garni..(and I had parsley in the garden or it would have been more)....garlic , butter, and chicken stock....soooooo....had I used prosciutto....it would have cost me $60 just to make this!

I've eaten rattlesnake....nothing special.

What is good though, is freshwater eel....it's a little like gator. It actually tastes somewhat similar, and like gator, you'll get a little different flavor with every bite.

That broth was delicious, but really didn't do it for me as far as the snails went. Wound up melting some butter, adding garlic powder and garlic salt, and dunking the snails in it to eat them.

Soooo....next time , I'll just warm them up in a little wine and chicken stock and drench them in garlic butter. Also, I was busy working on the truck, and found out you really don't want to stew snails...they don't get tender, just tougher.

After racing was mentioned in another thread, it stirred this memory.

Now, a lot of my relatives are drag racers, and very good at it...

Anyway, many years back my older brother and my younger brother were looking at my younger brother's Maverick in my mom's driveway and talking about it being totalled. It was wrecked in the back, and I said it really didn't look that bad to me. My older brother said: "You don't understand, this is a (whatever it was) second car, and you don't play around with anything less than perfect frame wise."

Not much else was said, I didn't ask and nothing was offered as to how it happened.

Years later, somehow or another, while talking to my next door neighbor, the subject of that Maverick came up. He said: "I was there the night your little brother wrecked that car! He was street racing a Camaro and that guy was kinda weird. So, your brother has him beat badly off the line. The guy in the Camaro loses it and is heading towards the crowd. Your brother whipped over and blocked his car from hitting the bystanders."

Pretty cool, huh?

Looking back now, at the amount of damage done to the back end of that Maverick, and equating it to a human body...he may have very well saved a life or two, and at the very least, saved some folks from major trauma. I don't know if my brain would have worked that fast!

You know...the funny thing is...like I said, I don't know if my brain would have worked that fast....

Now, like I said, a bunch of my clan are drag racers and good at it...A big part of that is reflexes and reaction time... It seems like all of us were gifted with super cat like reflexes...I used to use mine to play foosball...(and basketball) .....(also how I got such a rep as a street fighter)...I could get plastered in a bar and still react to a shot barely visible to the human eye. I had help though on the other end...when I shot, you didn't see the ball move...just the loud pop of the ball hitting the back of the goal.

Well...even though the little brother is getting up in years too, his reaction time and reflexes are still pretty good. He was racing out of state last year. His transmission exploded mid track...(keep in mind...this is a sub 9 second 1/4 mile car...so..it's MOVING at this point! ) A chunk of that tranny took out the wall side slick...and he managed to keep it out of the wall.

To prove my point about reflexes and drag racing though, watch any of the pro top fuel or funny car drivers catastrophic events in slow motion....and see how fast that chute is deployed!
