Soooo....I called about the 82...and askd one simple question: "When you put gas in it , it fires up, right?"

"No....we tried that, it doesn't fire. Personally, I think it's out of time , needs a carb, and some more work....it's leaking oil and fluids." "I hate to talk bad about Kevin's father's truck, but it's going to need more than a carb."

I said: "You don't know how much I appreciate your honesty, it's an hour one way, and honestly , if it fired when primed , I was going to buy it because it's so nice, but you saved me a long trip for nothing."

"Yeah it's really nice...no dents, a little faded paint, and the interior is in really good shape consiering it's age...it probably needs carpet."

Another time, different situation, I'd give $1200 for it with NO engine! But....another strike! Arrrrgh!

Well, I pulled the trigger on a 94 F-150 extended cab pickup today...

More details tomorrow. I hope the title transfer isn't a nightmare, as the title owner is dead. I have the death certificate, and the title is signed by his widow....but who knows what kind of hoops I'm getting ready to have to jump through (or even if I can get a clear title in my name). Or maybe it's no big deal....(I'm really hoping it won't be)!!!!

......And..already it starts....5 minutes of Googling and it's already looking like I'm probably screwed!!!

Well....(not totally) ...but I may not be able to title this truck.

I can probably recoup almost all my money with some time and work by dismantling it and selling the parts.

Or possibly getting tags for it...(IDK, though)... but, even if I could never get a clear title in my name...if I could drive it for a year, it would be worth it.

Another way I might possibly get back at least half of my money, is sell it to a rancher for use on the farm. (Yes...in Texas, it doesn't matter if you raise cattle or grow crops, it's a farm.) Or a group of hunters for a lease vehicle.

I didn't mention it yet, but it IS four wheel drive.

But, REGARDLESS.....it's not looking like a title transfer is gonna be easy.

DADGUMMIT! Why do I feel like a monkey with his hand stuck in a jar?????

Where the problem comes in is that his wife signed the title. There is no documentation that she is the rightful heir. I don't have a bill of sale from her, nor is their a paper trail from her sale to me....(in otherwords , I don't have a bill of sale from her to the person she sold it to, and a bill of sale from them to me.)

To complicate matters, the truck has changed hands twice without title change, so...even though I have a POS bill of sale from the guy I bought it from, there's nothing in the world showing he had any authority to do so.

Now.....after a small snack...and two hours sleep...(probably all I'll get stressing over this), I'm hopeful I have the solution.

Hopefully, this gal is still at the address on all the paperwork. Perhaps I can track her down and get her to go with me to the courthouse...(or at least sign the necessary affidavit of heirship at a notory .) (....and maybe make me out a bill of sale? ....so we can just cut out the scumbags that didn't take care of business).

Now...just to show how the Poboy is ever optimistic....the death certificate is from October....her husbands age : 50....so....that puts him in my age range....sooooo....who knows? So...as an added benefit to entice her to cooperate, I'm going to offer her some cash and a nice dinner....

Yeah....Harbor Freight isn't the only place that you'll find predators....:lolgoku:

But....then again that would mean I'd have to bathe and shave and dress up and all that crap....IDK....:lolgoku:

Then again....I really don't know HOW her husband died!

---------- Post added at 06:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:37 AM ----------

Now...with this truck, came a 2" thick folder of documentation of the life story of this truck....(apparently, they kept every reciept).... I came across a bill for a clutch change and motor mount for almost $900. On the reciept....under the $485 worth of parts: resurface flywheel $70!!!! Sooooo..... how....I mean Really....how....do you spend $485 on parts for a clutch kit, resurfacing a flywheel, and a motor mount?

BTW: Both of them are listed on the registration renewal, the financial documentation, and the lien release....(which I can't find....just the cover letter), but he is the only one listed as owner on the title.

Picturing this in my mind has just made me a bit sick :ack2:. Maybe to soften her up you can send her some of your personal stash of calendar pics....the ones where you aren't wearing the stickers

Yeah send the pics and tell her if she does not sign... She will have to look at them again.
Its like water boarding only worse!

BTW this is why All my titles say His or Hers. Not Him and Her. It makes a difference how many signatures are needed, or... and.

Then again she can sell my truck without my permission if things ever get nasty.

Ummmn....no. I was mistaken, both of their names are on the title, without either (and) or (or) . Are you sure you're not thinking of checks?

Anyway....after a 45 minute wait I found out she needed to sign the back of the title. Now, I'm thinking I'm really losing my mind....last night and this morning I just knew I had seen her name on that title! Finally after combing through the paperwork and. searching everywhere ....I remembered a sticker on the top right hand corner of the face of the title that wasn't there either. Looking closer I saw the clerck had ripped off the top section while I wasn't looking. Ahhhh....so it WAS signed, just in the wrong place!

Then she proceeded to tell me I needed one of any of these, original or certified copy: Letters of Testamentary
Muniment of Title with Will
or. Heirship Affidavit. (notarized).

Additionally, her signature on a properly completed form 130-U.

There is a Tractor Supply right across the street from the sub-courthouse and I stopped in to window shop tool boxes before going to the courthouse...Half of them weren't priced, but every one I looked at was for a full sized truck. There was an employee standing in front of a toolbox with a scanner and he was shuffling them around. (Maybe inventory? IDK. I made the comment that they were all full size and slid the one out he was in front of and said: "This one is a midsize: $49.95."

I said "What? I thought I heard you say $49.95!" He said yep, shot it with the scanner and showed me . It read $49.95!!! I said "I gotta buy that." He asked if I had my truck outside, he'd help me load it and we could make sure it fit.

I told him no, but maybe I should buy it and have them put sold on it until I came back with a truck. He said I shouldn't work, it had been there for months. I said you're probably right, as long as you don't change that $229. price tag. He said:" I wouldn't do that to you."

So I came back with my neighbor and his truck...and a tape measure. We loaded it on a flatbed dolly and rolled it up front. Then I remembered to measure. 51". Crap! My new truck bed is only 49"! But I bought it anyway. For $50, I cut it to fit. I was thinking I'd just weld it back together but it didn't dawn on me it was aluminum! But I'll still do it , just without welding, and only after I get the title mess straightened out!

Funny thing is : it fits my Toyota pup truck, but not the full size 94 Flareside. Also, because its a SuperCab, the bed is short of 7'.

I haven't been able to get a phone number for the lady, but there was a listing for her dead husband's father. I've called twice but it just rings and rings and doesn't have an answering machine. So I wrote her a letter to go out in tomorrow's mail, and I continue to try him from time to time.

Chilli maybe? Some beans, some meat, maybe some onions, spices, peppers, simmer, beans used and good food.

Poboy, up here, well at least at the sos (dmv) near me I would have just taken that title in signed like that and they wouldn't have given it a second thought. It is extremely easy to get titles up here though, not signed, no title at all, Yada Yada Yada. Sorry about your luck, but hope you get it straightened out my friend.

A quick update...still trying to track down this woman...got 2 addresses for her...I believe her current one is not the one on the title and all the paperwork from the truck maintenance records when her husband was alive. He worked for the airlines, she is a CPA. They had no children. The phone number they shared has been disconnected. The 6 phone #'s asociated with her have all been disconnected.I have found 4 possible contact people for her in Lewisville where she also had addresses and phone #'s. She is 51.

Now, on the seller's side I called him and told him I couldn't title the car, I needed to talk to the woman (hoping he had a phone #). He told me: "Here's what you do; go to the courthouse and get everything she needs to sign and bring it to me...."

WHOA!!! Say what???? I told him no way in hades I was gonna give him back the title! So...I texted him: "You can go to the courthouse as easily as I can ...heck...you're closer, get her signature on a title application form #130-U, and a completed Heirship Affidavit form VTR-262, then we'll talk about the title and the rest of your money.

Ideally, I would like to have those forged documents and collaborating text messages before I talk to her or go to the police, but I might be going sooner.

I really need some way to connect him with all this that is verifiable.Perhaps the police will help me locate this woman and prosecute this scumbag.

I think I should remove the battery from that truck before it disappears! Excuse me while I get sick and go back to searching for this elusive woman and try to unravel the complete nature of what's happening and why.

Well....still keeping my fingers crossed on getting this truck titled. I found a tailgate for it....(sorta) ....it's 2 3/4" too wide though, but if I had the truck titled I'd get it for $40... and make it work.

Meanwhile, while shopping OfferUp I came across a non running off brand DR brush. cutter type thing with a round chainsaw blade on it for $40.. I bought it for $35. It turns over and has compression.

Also...Out of 1/2 a shed of F150 parts and two totes full, I couldn't believe the first tote I grabbed had the door handles I was looking for right on top.!!. I looked at what was wrong with the drivers side door, and it's just wore out pins and bushings.

Poboy or not... How the he ll do you do that!:idea2:

If I get the truck titled and the tailgate, I'll document it and show you. There are a couple of ways to use it.

I could repair the old one, but altering the new one would be easier. (The one on the truck was backed into by a forklift and its crumpled and bent in 4"...)

Oh....and to explain it where even a Californian can understand...you make it 1 3/8" shorter on each side....:lolgoku:
