In a perfect world I'd be able to claim I've never had that happen; instead, I'll go with the Cold War agreement that the USA and the USSR had when it came to submarine collisions; yes, it has happened. The actual # is classified.....

:funnypost:

I lost more than one watchpart that way.
rendering a $2k watch useless because of a slip like that,
is very very unpleasant.
And since finding new parts for old watches can be very difficult, I spent looong days down on my knees feeling the carpet for clues.
like reading the carpet floor magazine in braille :D

Springs are an Unnessecery evil

Trying to diangose a slow bulldozer

Take the pilot actuator off the side and pull out the return spring to keep it safe
Didn't think there would be a second smaller spring in there
So I turn it upside down and give is a tap to get the piston out
The spring comes out and hit every thing on the way down straight into sand
Ended up using one or those magnetic tool trays like a metal detector and dragged in though the sand
Found it eventually

The most devestating thing when working on your car and u drop somthing but it doesn't hit the ground

I like Jim's sig

I don't know whats worse, something not hitting the ground, or something falling to the ground but you know you are not going to find it until the 2 feet of snow melts.

Thanks guys. ....now for something completely different:

OK- so what you are looking at is a piece of mahogany approximately 1x4x6". I was setting up a fixture a couple of days ago and I forgot to clamp this down. I pushed the jig forward and the piece hit the blade. ... slinging it straight into my pubic bone at @ 450fps... Now the top 1 1//2"of "littleDoug" is an ugly shade of purple qs is a quarter sized spot on the upper left side of my scrotum. ..But the meat in front of my pubic bone is EXTREMELY tender....

All I can say is thank God that table saw wasn't a couple of inches closer to the ground! !!!

Not at all mate...That's the whole point! Hurt like a booger but missed the family jewels....if they had taken the shock of this injury I'd be carried to hospital and on morphine. .....Actually still makes me a bit queasy just thinking about it. ..... Also- if it had hit me a few inches higher. .... I could have wound up with some serious internal injuries. Actually- if I were to place where to be hit- it would be exactly where I was....

What? No ...:useless:...........:lolgoku:

On a different note- I'm planning on going to the minor emergency clinic on Monday but for a different reason....I finally have a steady income and I have to get blood work done so I can get back on my meds. It's been really rough without them- especially working full time.

Compare it to working with the flu every day and that being the best you feel- energy-wise. When I talked to them on the phone- they freaked out when I told them the meds I haven't had. She said: "OMG- you quit BOTH of those cold-turkey? Bless your heart! Let me talk with the doctor and see if he feels comfortable bending the rules to get you some until you can come in..."

These are drugs that control the brain. Anti-depression and hypothyroidism. ... ( both of which came about because of the Cancer )- anyway. .. it makes doing anything 3 times as hard. (Been off them for over a month. ..)

So- for better or worse- I'll be back to "normal" ( at least normal in the "Poboy way" ) in a couple of weeks (that's how long it takes for the chemicals in the brain to stabilize.)

So- consider yourselves forewarned. .....:lolgoku:

My best wishes Doug, I hope you'll be alright.

From my point of view.. you really need health care over there.:horse:
When I need to see a doctor, I just go to the doctor,
thanks to that little plastic card in my wallet.

Aaah, so, you mean we can take comfort in the fact that, for the last few months, you haven't been yourself... or can we?

Ahhhhh- There's the rub.....I've been too tired to be really crazy! So " normal " is a tricky term...:sarcasm: So while someone might say- "I normally get up at 6 am." Should I say I'm normally obnoxious or just say I'm usually obnoxious? Wait- then some would say I'm unusually obnoxious! :lolgoku:

Sid- The healthcare system is undergoing change in America right now. Obamacare would have been a Godsend for me a few years ago when I was forced to pay double for health insurance. Now- just as it's coming in effect- my Cancer is no longer an issue- ( if in fact I am still in remission, -knock on wood,- and Cancer-free for 10 years.) I'd have to pull out the paperwork to figure out exactly what the official date was but I know it's somewhere around now as I was diagnosed in the end of 2003.

It's been a rough 10 years but I think things are going to turn around for me now.......... The housing market is rebounding and I think I've got a steady job and will soon start contracting on the side.

This is funny- I just heard something at the front door.... ( almost like a knock )... it was my uber intelligent cat Sammy. He already had figured out if he gets on the porch rail and looks in the front door window I'll let him in- now he's knocking! I just need to figure out how he's doing it. .......

Edit: and I forgot to mention- looking in the window only works if it's light outside- not at 3:15 in the morning- but I guess he's figured out something that does!

You know- despite what my self-depreciating sense of sometimes portrays- I consider myself to be above average in the intelligence department, and have the grades and testing to bear that out....HOWEVER for such a smart guy- I sure manage to do some pretty stupid stuff.....

For instance- poisoning the crap out of myself. ...which I just got through doing. Right now- I'm enjoying the buzz- but not the taste....

I have a dishwasher that doesn't drain properly. The water had collected and become extremely stagnant. I've been hand washing the dishes and using it as a dish drainer. So if I play around with the timer dail- I can get it to drain, but it's kinda hit or miss. So I put bleach and hot water in the bottom and then went to drain it. It still stunk so I went to repeat. This time I threw in some pool shock. At the last minute I added a little vinegar for good measure.

Needless to say, when I opened the door I got a good double lung full of steaming hot chloride gas........The house has had trace amounts ever since and I got a couple more doses opening the door to pour fresh water in to get rid of it........Being it's 24°f outside, (and my heater isn't working real well) airing out the house hasn't been a viable option. ...

Even though it may be warm where I'm going I still don't want to be cold while I'm here! !!:lolgoku:

The upside is my emphysema burdened lungs have never felt better and my cronicically stuffed sinuses are totally clear. The downside is I absolutely hate the scent of chlorine in my lungs and I could die.....

Oh well- if what they say is true that " anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger. .." -I must be Superman by now!
