looks alot like my 920, is the diff welded? if so how well was it done? it may be out of center. take the counter shaft out and make sure the gears spin freely on the shaft. Also i'd change the gear oil, that stuff looks pretty old/gritty, walmart generic will do.

nope its not welded the is a ***** to take out and put back together though they do spin freely. and yes i will take all that gunk out.

also i have 2 ball bearings that came off i think its from the shifter so i'll take care of that tomorrow.

BTW this is the first transaxle i've worked on and wanted to know it if when your putting it back together befor bolting it up is there suppose to be a gap betwenn the two case about 3mm big?

no, are the bushing tabs correctly aligned? there should be a little triangular tab on each pushing that will fit into the case, that could be your whole problem.

well i just got to work a bit on my transaxle today and still havent finished.

but i have too ball bearings and springs. im guessing they're from the shifter so they go in through too phillips screws on the top of the transaxle right? so how do i get them off without stripping them?

well heres my new ragb i made from the transaxle lol. i just removed the shifter, plugged the hole and left it in i think 3rd or 4th gear and got an 8:1 gear ratio, even though i should of left it on 6th and gotten a 6:1 but i'll make up for it later.

top speed 21mph (god i hope it has some torque):wai:

BTW removed the caliper and disc that was on the transaxle since ill be getting some brakes from a friend.

cool, if you had left it in 6th it would have worn out and shattered the cases fast (ish), and yes it should have plenty of torque, you should easily be able to rip up some dirt.

what size tires? if there the 18" ones im thinking of use a 1:1 that will leave you with 24mph tops and an 8:1 ratio, if you use the 2:1 you'll have a 4:1 ratio and thats bad (tranny go boom) and if you use the 1:2 you will get a 16:1 ratio and thats essentially stock speed (12mph)

heres in update:

well since i havent gotten my paycheck to buy the tubing heres my engine:

11hp 399cc briggs & stratton, electric starter

Model:252707
Type:0632-01
Code:82100711

kinda happy since i opened it up to replace the base plate gasket and lubrication was modded or the engine is just like that i dont know but it had no lubrication just two wedges on the connecting rod so i'll give it a try as a horizontal. see what happens BTW remounting the carb while i'm at it.

but as always i have questions lol i should be getting on u guys nerves by now.

on the carb it has to butterfly valves, one was connected to the govener (which was removed) and the other to the throttle.

the one connect to the govener moves freely for now, but the throttle is spring load and is open at full throttle. does that mean my engine has to always be in full throttle? and what do i do with the other one take it out, leave it freely?

The one that is spring loaded should be closing at full throttle, and that is the choke. I really hate the chokes that close at full throttle, its just annoying, i suggest running two cables, one for choke one for throttle.

Heres the info i got for that engine according to model numbers.

made october 7, 1982, at factory 11
25 CI block
electric start with charging system
Plain no flange crank bearings.

Engine may be pressure lube, i know my 12hp kawasaki is. i'll try to pull up the manual for it to see.

thanks dude, but i think the charging system was removed because i see a wire that comes from the coil to a clip that has one wire that was cut but the clip ties into the wire harness.

and its not the choke thats spring loaded its the throttle

Thats the kill switch, charging wire comes out from under the flywheel. what was cut was the wire that killed the engine when you put it at its lowest idle.

heres the manuals i got you
