Okay- finished a couple of runs.... it hit 47 in one direction and 49 the other, so we'll call it 48mph with my fat butt on it. Nothing weird happened, but I figure the motor didn't hit over 4700rpm, either. Posted a video under the Photo-Galleries section. Now I've got a few chores to take care of!

How much do you weigh?

HF motors rule! (for the $$$) Here was my second HF install on an old Manco Kart. It used to have a B/S 5hp with clutch and an enormous axle gear, good for..... 19 mph. Had to move/reweld the motor mount, and flip the torqaverter foward, buy Manco's smallest drive gear that'd fit that axle, and now the kart has good acceleration and tops out at 38mph. Whenever we have our Kart-fests, this is the one from my bunch that gets ridden the most by everybody. The engine works beautifully.

Does the HF engine have the governor removed?

Well look at it this way...

If he took off the roll cage, usually that meant it would flip one time or another. Now imagine that your neck is the thing protruding most from the top.

Ow.

Um.... ? The engine is STOCK with the gov set at 3600 rpm. Tried holding it open by the throttle butterfly (bypassing the gov's action), and it hardly gained any speed, which tells me that the gearing is pretty much right on. The front clutch on the converter is fully expanded at that point. I took the roll cage off, mainly because I wouldn't fit in the thing with it on. The only time any of us have come close to flipping it is when we attempted jumping it. It drops nose first, and that's the last time we tried that little stunt.

Russ the matter of the valve and piston colliding is a distinct possibility in many engines. Search and research interference and non interference engines, if you have an overhead cam engine you may now decide how important cam belt replacement is. The Honda GX series would require radical modifications to make it an interference engine.

Valve float on these engines feels like someone threw the anchor out, you reach the RPM where it occurs and the engine goes flat the competitor motors past you.

Oscaryu1 have you personally tested all of the pipes you spoke of earlier or are you speculating on your knowledge.

If you are refuring to "pipe" as an exaust system it doesnt take a rocket scientist to make a pipe or understand that the faster the hot gasses can get out of the engine the faster it can suck in more fuel, making slightly more power.

Jr Tyler I am new here and the tone of your message is not very inviting. I am not a rocket scientist, nor have I ever professed to be one. Your over simplification of exhaust theory proves the depth of knowledge you have. You should pass along your wisdom to the multitude of companies that spend evidently far too much money on research.

Exhaust pipes needed to researched and tested, Oscaru1 is not one to expound on his knowledge of pipe design, and let's not go there.

Perhaps you are far more polite and knowledgable than I have assumed, I hope so. Otherwise only dish out fact and valid information.

If I had unlimited money? Definitely a true honda. You just can't kill those things.

If I didn't have money though, I'd get a clone
