I would think that 2-cycles would put out more power per unit of weight than a 4-cycle engine.

Russ has got it up to 50 mph, correct? Yes 6.5 hp is 6.5 hp, but 4 cycle RPM and 2 cycle RPM don't even compare. Just think if russ had a tav? He'd smoke you even more! I have money on russ.

Yes I do have one on my clone. And I *may* stretch my kart a bit and use a completly Billet race clutch. Same clutch as my dragster. I would COMPLETLY blow you out of the water with a drag racing clutch on my kart with a mod'd clone. Plus I have seen your kart in that parking lot and it started to hit max rev's and it didnt look ANYTHING like 50 mph.

Probably true. I don't use any racing stuff other than oil. Just regular off the shelf yard kart crap. Nothing exotic.

Not even approaching max rpm and was clocked at 42mph in lot. Had to slow down because I ran out of room. It will do 50 or better on open road.

Ahhh the old young kid with fancy stuff and old dog with custom/cheap stuff story. Reminds me of the worlds fastest indian. Tyler your comparing watermelons to peanuts, if you have to mod your stuff up that much to beat russ then its not even a race...a true race is of equal equipment. Just think if russ had the stuff your adding to yours, he would leave you in the dust.

Tyler- stock clone took me to 48mph. No big accomplishment there. I'm not sure what kind of hp (10? 12?) one can get from a clone without breaking a part, or breaking their wallet- but if Russ is nailing 50 with just a clutch set-up on a motor that hasn't even remotely been put in the oven long enough (ie. no billetonium internal parts, and not huge $$ outlay.)... look out.
2-stroke 142cc motor vs 200cc 4 stroke motor. My money is on the 2 stroke.

... now can you imagine if Russ did the expansion chamber and messed with the port timing? Presently these motors are port-timed to keep a blade spinning at a constant 3000 rpm, no matter what kind of grass or doggy-poo you hit.... not exactly kart-racing specs.
Russ- do these motors' cylinders unbolt from the block? If so, that'd leave you the option of modding a cylinder and trying it out, making it easy to go back to stock if you had to. (Swap cylinders.) I don't think they do, though.

Nada. DuraForce ports are hard to get to. Older engines had welch/core plugs which makes modifying easy.
I do have a third DuraForce to screw around with.
Haven't decided what to do with it yet. Would like to get an expansion chamber but are just too expensive. Digital ignition is on the table.
Am considering making it kart/mini bike ready and sell it on Ebay, complete with mount and clutch.
Should sell pretty quick I would think, given the serious lack of usable 2 cycles out there. Perhaps $350?

Here are some pictures of the engine. Maybe someone that knows can help identify it or tell me what the horsepower is rated at.

this is some kind of ID tag I found on the cover next to the spark plug

dang! you came up with that information in under a half an hour. Did you get all that from the ID tag?
