Ok, I have installed a TAV2 on my small lightweight off road kart. Everything lines up, and the clutch is fairly simple.

Upon stop, I can sense the nearly 3x reduction from a standard Centrifugal clutch, but once I start to go (with trottle wide open), it quickly goes to it's max ratio, and I can hear the engine step down. I actually think it may be accelrating slower than a standard clutch.

I think this may have to do with the "green" spring on the driven pulley. Is there a good reference for tunning this CVT?

What your experiencing is belt suck down in the secondary pulley. The TAV-2-30 comes with the secondary spring in the 1st hole in the cam. Positioning the spring into the 2nd or 3rd hole will alllow the motor to rev up higher before it shifts out.

Interesting. I looked at the pulley side of the secondary spring, and I did not see the hole. Are these holes on the captive or pulley side? Maybe I am just not seeing it on the pulley side.

Thanks,

Russ

Found the Hole, I stopped looking inside the driven assembly and noticed the 3 holes starring me in the face.

So, I removed the snap ring, and of course the top plate come flying off. So, how Do I put this thing back together? How many turns between the pulley and the top plate?

Thanks,

Russ

Lol, be very careful when removing that rather large snap ring. You compress the spring and pre-load it to the next slot.
