I'd like to see how he got a series 40 clutch (only produced in 1 and 1 1/4" bore drivers) to engage with a 6.5hp motor that is equipped with a 3/4" bore shaft. That intrigues me, even if you do have reducers to mount this with you will not have the torque to fully engage the clutch.

T-man,

The design is great (and well worth the price!). I'm guessing right now I can do about 25-30 mph, but we'll be playing with the gearing some. There's tons of torque, and room at the top end, so we'll see how fast we feel comfortable making it.

I had to travel for work, but will send pics next week. I used a 6.5 HP motor and a Comet 40 CVT. The CVT driven sits below the level of the motor and the motor itself was too big for the folding cradle you designed. So what I did was make an engine mount that stays attached to the CVT and motor and can be disconnected from the frame with just 2 bolts. It's still pretty quick and the rest of the cart can then fold up. We finished the build and then pulled the motor/CVT, folded the cart and loaded it into our 5th wheel for mexico.

Other mods included a 1" live axle and the brass bearings I mentioned before in both the swing arms and the spindles.

Oh ok Blaz I didn't know what you were talking about .. but ya I know what your saying about that. I'm waiting to see the pics and video too.

baja that is cool about the case do you have pics??

I got a crazzy idea today took the front tires off of the bat and put them on the manco.
I only put them on for a short ride and they were way to hard to handle...but it looked cool.

You've got a great deal of wear in your spindles of the Manco kart. Try these things, replace the kingpin bolts on the spindles, if you can get positioning well weld the bottom bolt on the clip to prevent wiggle, the last thing that helps take slack of from play would be welding a 1/2 circle typically from a pipe in the clip itself so guide the spindle and remove play.

If this is not up your alley fix the camber by cutting and re-welding the bolts on the spindles. Your tire wear must be terrible.

my buddy at thermal take was looking for a midsized tower design so I did some basic idea of what i look for in a case and gave him a design to go on! we added both of our ideas into the case and then we got it into production! i added the features like sound proofing material, along with the fans that are some of THE quietest on market coming at under 19dBA or less!
heres a picture of it!

blaz those are some good ideas. never heard oh the 1/2 circle idea that is interesting, I do have to get new bolts for it too because they do wiggle alot.

baja that is awesome that you helped get that design on the market, looks cool also. Great work.

Thanks, (use that thanks button whenever I rock the casbah I want to get to 100) seriously though, the rest of the solutions aside from the camber issues you're dealing with are due to the fact that in the spindle only half of the wear is from that kingpin bolt, the spindle wears an an equally fast rate with lack of lubrication over the years. You have big camber issues that need to be dealt with.

T-Man, your nylon is worn out on your lock nuts. You should never be able to turn them on by hand. They do make shorter lock nuts for applications like that. From the picture it looks like the tires you used at replacements are 13x5.00-6 which is a bit shorter than the 145/70-6 tires. My main suggestion on all of this is to take the high speed sealed bearings from the Manco wheels and put them in your other wheels which are using low speed bearings.

Past that just try and stay cool. Make sure none of the kids knock themselves out on the railroad ties.

oh ya I know what your saying on the lock nuts, those tires are that size, slightly smaller then the others. they were such a good deal ( $12 ) that I couldn't pass it up. they ar not high speed tires eather, they can handle ripping around the property but when I take it out on the street and get up to speed they start to wabble. But for that price I'm not complaining, plus these are just a temp. fix I need to order some rear tires sometime so I do that I get all 4

oh ya .. 3 in 1 works good also. There is alot of good stuff out there. I was thinking of useing some dry spray silicone on the front tie rods ends but I held off from that, dont know how effective it would be

If space isn't an issue, castle nuts FTW. They are miles superior to nylon inserts. Or lots of red loctite but then you gotta torch it.

And for my spindles I use an age old can of axle grease that I got while cleaning grandpa's garage. Half of the time the bearings spin around the spindles (they are high speed sealed bearings and not locked up). I get a rubber glove (The smell still gets on your fingers) and slather it on like BBQ sauce.
