If it's a oxy acetelyne torch then yes you can braze steel, if not then you should get a used stick welder since they are cheap.
but if it is cheaper for you to but buy an oxy torch then i would do that, unless you see further use for a welder. Can I weld with steel with a handheld blow torch?

If I was welding more I might buy this. You don't need any gas, it welds with rubbing alcohol and water, cuts with water only. Welds any type of metal and you don't even need a face mask just some suntan lotion. Don't ask I have no clue but I was looking at some YouTube videos about Multiplaz (Video 2) and it's very impressive. The last welder or touch you will ever need.

Oxy is not as strong as welding. Its basically just acting as glue while welding is truly fusing the metal together.
:toetap05: Oxygen/Acetylene brazing is not as strong: properly done O/A welding can be (and often is) as strong as Electric Arc welding.
yes oxy/acetyelene or oxy/propane brazing works fine. Thats how they put together steel bicycles thats why you dont see any welds on them. its very strong

What uh Huh? I thought you could only braze with oxy acetylene? Whats difference between welding and brazing with a oxy?
Is it as simple as that? Use a steel filler rod?
