Wow. Nuts. I was going to suggest that it would be a real clutch-cooker, but I see that 1) The drive system is as yet incomplete, and 2) the intention was to use a belt-tensioning system for clutching. That thing needs a jackshaft in the worst way. Never mind that- realistically sized tires might be an idea.

I could see that rig being geared at about 12:1 and pulling catwalks all day long...

The funny thing is that if the guy was near me, I'd take it. There's enough useable parts on there to make it worth trading him my little Crapsman tractor.

13X5.00-6 are for the front and 16X6.50-8 are for the rear. I still need to pick up tubes for the 16X6.50-8's.

What is a good tooth number drive sprocket to use with the 16X6.50-8's with my T10 clutch with 16X6.50-8 tires and a 6.5 clone motor?

I will be back at PA tomorrow I hope.

My biggest concern is the weight. 6:1 with those sized tires could be okay on the right kart under the right circumstances. By this I mean fairly lightweight, and used on reasonably level ground. With a heavy two-seater, it might be a bit of a stretch. My speed calculator shows a potential top end of 46Kmh or 29MPH.

As this is for your kids, and the clutch is likely going to be overworked, I would suggest gearing down quite a bit. Can I see some updated pics of it so I can get a feel for it?

Yes- you're not going to be able to get much larger with the rear sprocket because of parts availability and clearance issues, so- jackshaft it is.

For the record, 46Km/h is scary fast for an 8-year-old. I build my kids kart with the same sized front and rear tires, and geared it dead low- IIRC, 12:1 for a top speed of 21.5Kmh. (ACTUAL rear tire diameter measured 15", not 16. Anyways- it's impressively fast enough for the kids, and can be regeared as they grow. Geared that low, it's a tire-fryer, too- they love that!

Ok what sprocket tooth # should I use on the jack shaft.

I need two sprockets, a small shaft and bearings.

Oh the rims are tubeless but the tires take tubes, so do I need to use tubes if the rims are tubless?

I'm not 100% sure, I think you're okay without the tubes.
For sprocket selection, decide on a ratio. For example, if you decide 12:1 is a good starting point, then you'd have 10t clutch into 20t on the jackshaft. Then you'd have another 10t on the jackshaft output going to your 60t rear. For 10:1, you would use a 12t on the jackshaft output sprocket.

ok my 10 tooth clutch to a 20 tooth sprocket on the jack shaft then a 10 tooth sprocket on the jack shaft to my 60 tooth sprocket on my rear axle. not sure why you have 3 sprockets on the jack shaft for. What is the 12 tooth sprocket for?

3 sprockets? Who said anything about 3?

I'll try this again-

For 12:1 ratio-

10T Clutch
20T J/S In
10T J/S Out
60T Axle

For 10:1

10T Engine
20T J/S In
12T J/S Out
60T Axle

In my previous post I meant for 10:1, use a 12T sprocket on the jackshaft output instead of the 10T. Clearer?

I had a really nice set of seats done up. I used a set of the fold up seats out of the rear of an ex cab s-10 with seat belts and an A$$ at work got rid of them on me. I was so pi$$ed off. I am thinking about taking everything back to pa and buying one of their karts when they go on sale. I think they are 2 seaters.

I got a question, I have a 1" axle shaft and 1" pillow block bearings. But the bearings don't just slide over the shaft.

Why? Should I have got bigger bearings?

I am thinking maybe doing a build another time for a kart for me and the wife so we can go karting with the boys. Maybe.
