However, you must be careful using the Right Guard/ hairspray spud guns due to chemical-thermal removal of body hair....

Not really... from my experience at least. BBQ ignitor, and RightGuard (the orange one) - worked great. I blasted a rolled up tissue paper across the yard. Makes a nice BOOM too.

Recoil? An airsoft has more.

i'm a spud gunner! mine uses a disposable camera flash unit as a detonator, it works very well the spark is very hot, it makes a loud "PAK!" for combustion gas i use regular no name hairspray... lol i shot a whole 50 pound bag worth of potatoes and the can of hairspray is halfway full

i think i have a picture of it....

found it here ya go

is the shoe parta the gun? lol
but i love the decals on it!

its interesting that this subject came up when it did, just last weekend i came across not one, but FOUR nice transformers for free...
110 volts AC to 10,000 volts at 23 milliamps. they are for ignition of oil stoves from what i can figure (they say "Ignition transformer" on them)
thats plenty power to kill you if you get it across the chest... but its just so much fun to play with! (in a verrrrryyy careful manor!) lol
instead of a measly 3 arcs per second, i get 60! if there is a combustible mixture around it, its gonna light! :biggrin5:

so just earlier today i was thinking of making a cannon with them, as i also happened across a few propane fittings at the same time..

perhaps using a pair of regulators to meter out specific amounts of propane and air into a combustion chamber, and using a spark plug with a transformer to light it?

i also managed to get some free gunpowder... has anyone tried a spud gun with gunpowder? lol

and FLAMETHROWERS?!?!?
you have ANYTHING with fire, and im there!
you can use a refillable aerosol can from harbor freight, and fill it with kerosene, that way you dont waste any expensive hair-care products. lol

or.... you can make a giant b-day candle....

... and thats not even full power :devil2:

btw, if anyone can guess where i got all that free stuff, i would be pretty surprised :roflol:

thats a scale model too!
its 6" PVC, so you wouldn't have much cake left lol

from what i measured in the pic, the flame is about 10.5' tall.
it felt nice when we lit the thing like that. it was an early January morning. thats also why it wasn't full power, the propane tank was really cold already, low pressure.

and no, i don't have an air cannon. but i prefer propane for big flames, as there are no sparks that might go places they shouldn't lol

howd you know how big the flame was? a 100' flame would be absolutely amazing!!!
not to mention get the fire department called, and me arrested... loll

im trying to make a potato cannon atm. would a camping gas bottle be better for the combustion chamber and a metal barrel. or should i fork out the massive amount of $5 and buy some pvc fittings?

Here's mine, pictures are a little old but the only thing that has changed is that I have 12 spark plugs in it now instead of 3.

yeah, I know... I was bored and had some extra wires and plugs laying around... so I tapped them in. Was thinking it would give it an all over burn. But as I have found from a spud gun site, to correct the barrel to chamber ratio, I need a 26 foot long barrel. This one only shoots the ball about 500 feet but is REALLY loud.

Edit: everything is 1/4" and tripple welded on the seams with proper bevel. I have been waiting to try oxy/acet. in it but just haven't had the source yet.

how do you power the plugs? i see a distributer cap, but how do you get the high volts necessary?

With that setup I would just power the white wire going into the ignition control box with 12V from my truck. But here of late, I have just been using 20 feet of wire and hooking it on my electric fence that I have around my pasture. Much hotter spark.

oxygen and acetylene?? wow, you are brave.
as daring as i am, i'll stick to propane.

oxy/acet is pretty nasty (as in easily lethal) stuff when its mixed right.
