i was fidling around with the calculator and found out somthing. if you get a tc you can have the final drive rateo be 2 to 1 and hit 72. then have a low end of 6 to 1, which wont burn the tires but will get you up to speed. although you can do this DONT!, like kaptain said "I can hit over 70...however i would have to be insane." and by the way bike spedoes are good for karts

2:1? I don't think that's going to happen. Plus, dunno which TC you're referring to, but the Comet 40 low range is around 2.43:1. So with a 2:1 final, low range would be 4.86:1, which certainly wouldn't be anything to write home about in terms of launch. Based on my own experience, I really don't think that 2:1 final drive ratio is an option...

If you had 10" race slicks, and a flat road. 4.86:1 isnt horrible, and you would probably get moving. but for anything but asphalt and race karts, its not gonna happen.

I've been wondering about a spedometer for my kart actually. I want a gauge though. Is there any way I could go about doing that, and have an acurate reading? I was thinking a wrecked motorcycle gauge, but I don't know how to set that up for a lawn mower tire, instead of a bike tire.

motorcycle speedos are generally cable driven, and it would require a custom gearbox and a little math for it to work properly with mower tires. A digital bicycle speedo would work fine tho. there wicked cheap on ebay.
