Well its closer to being a roller again...

Now I need an axle. What do I use? Could I get away with a length of threaded rod? Length of cold rolled? Or should I look into getting a length of some fancy stuff?

What over all length do you need? A grade 8 bolt?

Its like... 13-14in. Is there such thing as the grade 8 carriage bolt?

Don't use threaded rod. They snap easily as they are made from bad quality steel. The threads all act as weak points too. The threads also mess up bearings. Rather get a length of common variety mild cold rolled steel

Well, I found a chunk of 1/2in that was in its previous live an axle for a dolly or something. Ran a die over both ends, one side more than the other. The short side I tightened up the nut and welded it on the axle.

Went to bolt it all up and realized I needed some spacers. Dug out the chop saw, and then faced the pieces off on the lathe.

Now its officially a roller again!

Well done!! That should work nicely. Maybe get some Nyloc nuts to make sure that one you have there doesn't work its way loose

There is a lock washer on there... I was also contemplating putting a couple drops of lock-tite on it aswell.

I could also put a drop of weld on it!

I think it will be alright for now, if I find I need to tighten it up on occasion Ill get something else on there.

Now onto the engine...

So, Ive got 2 engines here. The look about the same, but got different numbers.

I dont know what all the number mean offhand, but would one be better than the other? Aside from the bashed in shroud ofcourse.
