I just got a FREE Honda Cbr600 from my schools auto shop. A kid last year that was actually in the class (I'm not), claimed it because he said he was going to put it in a go kart. He took the engine out, and then did nothing with it. So now its MINE!!!!!
Not sure of the year, pretty sure its a Cbr, looks like a mid to late 90's, so were looking at 90-100hp. I also get the rest of the bike, which includes,(because its not all there):
Front calipers (two on the front wheel don't know about the rear)
Master cylinders
Rotors
Rear shock
Chain (little rusty, can clean it though:thumbsup: )
Front/rear wheels (probably going to sell them)
Radiator
ECU
Gas tank(may or may not use
And all the little nuts and bolts.
TOTALLY PSYCHED!!!
Hope to have pics by Friday.

Thanks, looks like its in pretty good condition. Don't know what I'm going to do with it yet. I think I just want to make a test stand and get it running so I can show it off to my friends. Then when I want to put it in something, I just unbolt it and re-bolt it onto/into whatever I made.

PS: Also got the stock headers.

I KNOW!!! I'm sooooooooo excited!!! Gotta get my dad to let me spend my money now. Why I need to get permission to spend my own money is beyond me but thats the way he runs things.

I know the feeling. My mom references my kart as "The Money Pit".

SOoooooo, last night I spent about eight minutes and threw together a little engine cart with casters and some handle bars that I made about a year ago. Its reeeeeally ugly:ack2: and am almost ashamed to post pics, however it is level and serves a purpose (normally the things I make are just a little prettier than this). I thought the handlebars would be cool so you could push the cart around, and then when you start it you can twist the throttle like on a motorcycle. Ha ha, easily amused.

I pick it up tomorrow morning, gotta be out of the house and at school by 7:20am :ack2:
OH WELL!!! Its for a good cause. I would get out of bed for a free Honda engine any day.

Also, don't know if any of you saw my thread about my buggy design that I did on sketchup.

http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=10054&highlight=buggy+design

Might be a cool project.
Just gotta convince my dad.
Also I'm stoked because a new Harbor Frieght just opened like 8 minutes from my house. I used to have to drive for like 45 minutes. Now its SUPER CLOSE!!!

More!!!
You guys like the mini version of the CBR also. ha ha, made that a couple years ago, long story.

Also found out its a 1990 CBR 600 F
I don't know about the "F" because it could be "F2" "F3" or "FL".
It said on the frame, but I didn't take that home yet. After the brake I should be able to get the rest of the parts. It says somewhere between 90-95 hp:D

Its an "FL"

Man, I wish I had your luck.

They are some good motors and have some good torque both on bottom end and top.

What all parts are you missing for it?

So far I'm missing:
Radiator
ECU (Wiring Harness)
Air Box
IDK what else, I just got it so I haven't really had time to look at it much. I know its a 1990 FL based on the serial number stamped on the case. I'm pretty sure I can identify all of the parts except the thing in the front just underneath were the headers (got those too) bolt on. Is it fuel distribution?

That block has a single line running into it and four out so i would guess by looking at it through a picture that it would be a fuel distribution block, it may also be a crankcase pressure type worked fuel pump as well. Were all do the line lead up to?

The wiring harness will be the hardest to find. You may be able to pick one up off ebay reasonably priced.

You can build a air box for it out of metal or aluminum. It won't be that dificult. you may be able to find four small filters for setup so that each carb has its own filter.

About any raidiator will for it as long as you will have a way to keep it cool like a electric fan.

A raidator off a four wheeler or motor bike or something like that would be perfect. Craigslist may also be your friend for around where you live at.

Yeah thanks a bunch DirtTrack, this is my first engine of this size. I also forgot to say that most of the missing parts are still at school I think, so I won't be able to get them until next monday, the 28th.

This that have a circle around them in the pictures are things that I don't know what they are or where they go, help would be appreciated.
