Lookin good Rick. I used to run a rear bumper just like yours, 2 races in a row i had guys slam into me bending both the bumper and its mounting bolts way up and in. If you ever take a hard hit I'm thinkin your chamber is gonna get all bent up. Does your track require a silencer?

I'm not sure if they require one or not, but I've got one for it, I just gotta find the right piece of pipe to make the 80°~90° turn to go across the back bumper with it. I plan to make a new rear bumper for it too, to keep anyone from running up on my tires. ;)

Hey Rick,

I have heard a few pretty loud karts out there. I think they are mainly looking for anything loose or unsafe. I am sure you will not have to many people running into you.

Remember they do not let the rentals out when the owners are on the track

Two of my friends are preparing to build 250 cc karts, and a third, (the guy I bought my chassis from), is looking for a motor. They have been talking about doing some circle track with them too, THAT would require a GOOD bumper, ;)
I think it they ever run at CFRC, they will forget about the circle track.

I am going to try and run a few laps tomorrow. One of the perks of working for the track...hahaha

I think I'm gonna tackle getting the ignition coil, CDI box and fuel pump mounted today, maybe the radiator too.

Got a LOT done yesterday, built a bracket to mount the CDI box, fuel pump and ignition coil to the back of the seat, built a chain guard, mounted my new chain tensioner/idler, got the carb straightened out, started it up with a belt wrapped around the back wheel, then removed the kickstarter. Next up is mounting the radiator and plumbing the cooling system, then plumbing the front brakes, replacing the spindle bearings and adding another brace to the caliper mounting brackets, then maybe some test driving. Might fire it up later today and post some video of it running.

Stay tuned..............

Got the cooling system together and mounted and found a head gasket leaking. Still having some carb problems too. I've gotta get the front brakes plumbed and bled. I'm supposed to have a gasket kit here Friday morning, so I might make it, if not Friday, I might be able to make it Saturday night.

:mad2:you do know the steering camber on the front tires are wrong don't you the bolt that it all turns on should have an imaginary line pointing to the center of the bottom part of the tire

nothing wrong with his steering. Camber isn't recommended by most, and the frame is not a custom made frame, just a modified one. It appears to have some kpi and possible some caster.

This karts been about 65~70 mph already with a 12hp GX240 motor, and runs about 55~60 on the road course. The frame is a production race kart, (not sure of the manufacturer though), and the spindles were built off a jig I made from the original spindles. They just needed to be a lot longer to accommodate the brake components, and I wanted to add some Ackerman, which the original spindles didn't have. I fought that thing all day yesterday, finally got the carb to stop flooding only to find that the fuel pump isn't working, rebuilt that with some new check valves, now something is plugged on the low side (probably the low side jet), it doesn't want to idle at all, the floor pan tore loose at the rear and is sagging on the ground, the rear exhaust tab broke off the expansion chamber, so the pipe is rattling around, and I still haven't gotten the front brakes plumbed or bled, although I have all the fittings now. I plan to go over to my buddy's later today and build a new stronger floor pan out of aluminum diamond plate, or stainless sheet, whichever I can find at the barn. That one was on the kart when I got it, I knew it wasn't factory, it was pretty weak, it looked homemade and it was about half as thick as it should have been, and it was on the list to be replaced anyway, just gotta do it now rather than later. I WAS gonna wait till I dis-assembled the whole thing for paint to do the new floor pan. I gotta weld a new tab on the expansion chamber, and rubber mount it this time. Since I have another week to prepare and do some testing, and have all the critical parts, I should be ready to make it to the track this next Friday.

Here's a few pics I took last night, just before heading home...
