Well yet again i had carb troubles (minor surging...again) anyways, i took the carb off of the engine and the gasket between the carb and intake manifold ripped. I cant get a ride to the mower shop for a while, and im wondering if i can just replace the gasket with permatex? Its a butterfly style mikuni off a kawasaki FB460V-BS13, from 1987 ish if that matters.

You need gasket maker that isn't silicone based. If it is based with silicone the gas mixture will eat at it. Leaving you with a booger mess.

Try some oil soaked cardboard. It may hold until you can hitchhike to the mower store.

how about cork? i got a sheet of that.
i figured the permatex wouldn't work, just figured since it isn't a lot of gas it might not matter.

this is why you should always keep a roll of gasket material in the shop. lol
but ive used cork for gaskets before.. it works pretty good really.

I've tacked lots of stuff just wearing my work jeans and a T-shirt and a mask. Then again this is MIG and you dont get that HOT flux spatter on you.

I never ware my welding gloves, for the most part i weld in a t shirt and jeans, but there still nice gloves. The flux splatter burns at first but you get used to it :roflol:

You know the things that plug the top of a wine bottle? its that, you can get it in sheet form and use it as a gasket in some cases.

My moms Boyfriend gave me some gasket material, he said it would work. It looks like cardboard to me...but i'll give it a try.
