Really Slow Yamaha Banshee Build

I love that model, it looks cool. I read that the Yamaha Banshee 350 is not being made anymore, it ended being made here in the states till 2006. That's too bad, since I'm not good at these builds, and wanted to get one already made. I might look into a small dune buggy for my son, he's 6.

The engine on the Banshee is 2-stroke, I wonder if that's better than a 4-stroke, especially for a larger vehicle like that.

The US banned all two cycle atv's in 2006 due to emissions, however the banshee was still made up to 2011 in countries with less emissions restriction, but regardless yeah you are just plain not going to be able to go into a dealer and buy a brand new banshee. It is tough to even find a dealer that has them kicking around used but they are all over the classified adds at various prices and conditions.

I messed around a little bit with the banshee and got my chain installed and attempted to get some sort of air box fitted but I had no luck, the billet intake as well as the larger carbs make it almost impossible to get any type of air box installed. I am not too thrilled but I am just plain going to be forced to run individual pod filters. Speaking of carbs I am having some issues with the used carbs I purchased and it would cost nearly as much to rebuild them as it would be to buy new so that is what I did, I have two brand new carbs as well as pod filters and water resistant outer ware covers coming in the mail and as soon as they get here I am actually pretty much ready to ride and tune!! I also tossed on my foot pegs/ nerf bars to give me something to stand on.

Well it has been a while since I have updated but I have made a good deal of progress. I ordered a seat cover and re covered the seat and I made a couple custom brackets to hold my license plate, the original plate mount went right were the exhaust is so I used a couple pieces of black steel pipe cut down as well as some sheet metal to weld up a couple mounts and of course powder coated them. I think they turned out pretty nice for some spare junk that was laying around!

I am also extremely happy with the seat cover I bought it is a pre made cover by some company called jettrim but it fit quite nicely and looks awesome in my opinion.

Oh and one final huge update, I with the help of my father I finally cut a hole in my shed and made a pair of giant wood ramp out of some large 2X10X20 planks supported in the center to lower the banshee out of the second floor of the shed.

I used a winch to get it down to the ground and my father guided the quad as I ran the winch upstairs in the shed and it actually made it down with minimal stress. It is awesome that I finally have it on the ground and I was able to take a test lap on it around the house and finally move more than half a foot. It is running decent but I am still having some minor carb issues that need to be sorted out but it moves pretty quick as is. I am pretty well set other than some tuning and putting some miles on it. And now a ton of pictures!!!

I did kind of mistyped when I started the thread, I meant to say that it was going to be a slow drawn out build of a banshee but then my brain just didn't work right like it does from time to time, any way on my phone gps app I have had peak mph at about 67 but I was slightly holding back because it was a short ish stretch of seasonal use road, I would like to open it up some time but I am still messing with jetting and small first run type gremlins.

I don't have the guts to get my Blaster up to fill speed myself. Of course I live kind of live in an area with a couple farm fields, but all the roads are paved and frequented by the Sheriff. Plus I can't ride it "technically" in the ditches until I take the mandatory ATV safety test. But I do have tags on it so I can ride it. Only recently found out about the stupid safety test.

Looks sweet, I just got and sold another one recently (sold 2 days ago). It was way faster than my first one. Had tons of stuff on it and rode great.
