Someone on youtube who did the same thing says a 4 bolt pattern sprocket fits right on the wheel. Also, the bore is 1" and I haven't seen a clutch under $70 for 1"!

I'm thinking of all possible solutions and I have to decide between cheap and easy :surrender:

I thought of ways to do this and how bout a jackshaft? I could probably bolt it into the frame, run 1.5" on the engine to a 4" on the jackshaft then another 1.5" to the 5.5" on the wheel giving me a drive ratio of about 6:1. Plus, the wheel would be on the correct side so there's no problem with the freewheel!

Or I could do this:

you will have to rev higher to engage the clutch if you rig it like the pic. because the clutch will be spinning significantly slower than the engine shaft.

you are getting there. your illustration is somewhat what i ment in welding the pulley onto the clutch's drum. for this idea to work (the illustration) you will need a regular clutch, a jackshaft sprocket, jackshaft assembly and your current pulleys. use chain for your primary driveline, jackshafted to your belt final drive. i have noticed on the atvs that they use a one-way bearing with a clutch to engage the drive pulley. seems overkill to me, but i guess thay did it so it would last.

I think this is the setup I'm gonna do, it's a thumbnail so click it to make it big:

What gear ratio should I shoot for?

I guess this is to low because If I get 5000 RPM it'll only scoot 27mph! My gear ratio should be about 4.71 to 1 if I wanna go 34mph at 3600rpm (I think thats the rpm of my motor)

If I change the first jackshaft pulley to 1.75" the jackshaft sprocket to 16T and the rear wheel to 60T I have a drive ratio of about 4.83

it looks like you will be running a tiller type clutch. i hope you will be using a hand actuator and not foot. should work

i couldnt get your last pic to work but if your going to run a clutch on the jackshaft it will need to be 1:1 ratio from engine to jackshaft or the clutch wont enguage as it should. But a jackshaft will also be better because youll be able to center your engine better in the frame

as to the pb bearings, i have found some cheaper, but i just don't know never having used them. the rest of your shopping list looks on par as far as prices, do you already have the #35 chain? northern tool sells 10' for like 12.99, if you have one close. did you measure the distance for you jackshaft? you would rather have an inch too much than not enough.

Yea, its more than long enough but I'm thinking I can borrow some of the stuff (especially sprockets + chain idk about pillowblocks) from the school robotics labe :devil2:

how were you going to run the jackshaft? i have an idea. on the second video, stop it at 26 seconds. you could drill a hole in that upright frame rail. get a two stage sprocket and bolt it through the hole. double nut it, and see if you can cut some pipe to fit around the rail to act as reinforcement since you aren't welding. i'm not sure what the spacing will be on the double sprocket, but it will most likely dictate where to mount the motor. this has a two stack sprocket: http://www.bajamotorsportsonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=7_8_31&products_id=789"
they sell the individual sprockets, but you still need a bearing and shaft. i can see different ways of doing it, but trying to keep it cheap is the problem.
