Anyone else deal with Sciatica pain? I've had some issues since 2009, off and on. Always bearable, mostly just lower back pain. Had issues all last week, I felt my lower back pop when playing with my dogs(no gutter minds here), and the next 5 days after just had typical lower back pain. Went to bed Friday and woke up with pain in my hip and leg. Couldn't sleep the pain was so bad, never goes away. Day time it gets a little better, but taking it easy. Sat and Sun night same thing. Can't get rid of the pain unless I move around. Maybe 9 hours sleep the last 3 nights. I'm a walking zombie today. I have a appointment with a chiropractor at 11:00am tomorrow. I'm in so much pain and needed to rant.

So I'm tempted to do a very stupid thing and no idea if it would work. But tempted to buy an M35A2 Deuce and a Half and use it on weekends to move wood to the county burn pile and maybe to help people move stuff around.

Should help fund my other projects a bit, since my automotive job doesn't reliably pay well.

Light sciatica.
I get restless leg syndrome. Thats sucks. Can't get comfortable. Burning feeling when being still too long. Gotta wiggle and move to ease it.

Chiropractor helps tremendously.
Some yoga poses and stretching helps alot too.

As some one who used to own a M35-A2 with winch and the good C turbo. (The whistler.) Don’t do it especially if you are over 200 lbs. you won’t fit. Drive one first, don’t just take it around the block. Parts are getting rare and expensive.

As some one who used to own a M35-A2 with winch and the good C turbo. (The whistler.) Don’t do it especially if you are over 200 lbs. you won’t fit. Drive one first, don’t just take it around the block. Parts are getting rare and expensive.

I'm 170-ish. With a goal of dropping back to 150. I would probably get one that was rebuilt but not sure. Definitely don't want the A3 version because while the 3116 Cat is somewhat decent, rather have the spicer 5 speed manual.

But yeah tires are not cheap and trying to make sure the old multi-fuel is working well, probably isn't the cheapest.

Many years ago when I was a young man I worked at Western Auto (remember them?) as the small engine repair guy. Lawnmowers, tillers, weed eaters, go karts, mini bikes, log splitters and the like.

Some where around 15 percent of the "non working" engines were simply out of gas. Duh? Fifty cents worth of gas and good to go.

The management's policy was to give a full service charge anyway. This was 1970 or so and the charge was probably around $25.

I protested, but management had their way--maybe that's one of the reasons they are out of business now.

These days the biggest killer of small gas engines, is people not running ethanol free gas, or at least running Sta-Bil with the gas to help prevent carb tarnishing. And some don't run the tank and carb empty once the season is done.

Tires are not only expensive but finding a tire to fit a truck rim (20”) is getting hard to do. The A3s look like Sid the sloth from the Ice Age movies. Watch out for the transmissions, synchronizers are kind of weak. Only use gl1 in them or another red metal safe manual transmission lube. The wipers suck! The cab leaks like a sieve in the rain. No heat and new arctic heaters are made of unobtanium. 60 mph is max speed. Brake parts are getting hard to find and only uses DOT5 silicone brake fluid. The air over hydraulic brake booster new ones hard to find and so are rebuild kits. With the air brakes you got to be careful of icing in the winter, they will freeze up. No power steering, (if you can even find a kit) which makes it difficult to steer in the winter and they flip over easy. The 5 foot lift to the bed sucks also. The rear dog bone bushings absolutely suck to replace. They fail often and a tow truck ride home costs a ton of money $1,000 just to come out and hook up. The NDT tires suck in the snow and are down right dangerous in the rain. Anything you do to it is expensive and the parts are big and heavy. Usually you need a friend or a portable crane to do anything on it. There’s more but my finger is tired. Go to Steel Soldiers web site and do some research. They are neat trucks, just don’t try to insure or plate one. If you plate it as a classic or antique don’t ever haul anything in the bed, not even groceries. It’s illegal! If you plan to haul you’ll need commercial truck plates. Dems expensive! It’s like owning a boat expensive and when you sell it it’s the happiest day of your life. Good Luck. Yeah I've been reading forums, Steel Soldiers and what not, watching videos. With parts becoming difficult, I guess I don't see a point. Not like the CUCV K-series Chevy trucks from the 80s are any easier to get ahold of. Parts are at least somewhat available.

I'm one of those people. Only engine I run the gas out of is my snowblower. But, worse case scenario I at least know how to repair it if it does have an issue.

I do run Sta-Bil in my generator though. I guess I am only half that guy.

I tell people to shut off the fuel and let the engine run till it dies everytime they are done running it. No matter the implement.

They constantly brag about how they ALWAYS start right up the next time they use it.

Please post here if you do. Have tremendous affinity for the Deuce point 5. Best milsurp vehicle there is aside from the HMMWV which is a stretch (lots of wasted space on the inside) and of course the CUCVs.

Hey Denny, what about bigger, like the 5 ton 6x6’s?

Kicker about the full 6x6 5 ton trucks is, depending where you live, you may need a CDL to drive one. But if you have it bobbed, with the rear axle removed, you don't need a CDL.

But this is all just talking out loud. Getting a Humvee would be nicer if only because it would be cheaper to work on. Though the 37" tires for a 16.5" wheel are not cheap if buying brand new

A deep fording spec'd humvee would be nice even if the exhaust and snorkeling are missing, because the diffs would have the positive pressure (I think) setup to keep the water tight.
