Just found out a lot more about the VW buggy. Turns out drivetrain are from a 1963 Bug. Which means 1200cc engine ~36-40hp and swing axle transaxle and not cv axle. Reading up on the VW1200 and seeing what's available to make it strong. Hopefully I won't regret my decision, was hoping it was at least a 1600cc engine with a CV transaxle. Should be a fun project hopefully. It is also, at least in stock configuration a 6 volt system. Volkswagen didn't switch to 12 volt until 1967.

She'll send just fine , looks like a blast
Oh for sure it will be. Wanting to use it as a trainer vehicle for my wife, nieces and nephews to teach them to drive stick. So my mod wishlist for it:

Remote oil cooler with oil filter
4 wheel disc brake conversion to get rid of the drum brakes that do not self-adjust
12 volt generator (55amp), regulator, and starter
Aftermarket cooling fan

Something I have wanted for a long time, a decent pressure washer.

Ordered an Annovi Reverberi 3600psi, 3.3 gpm plunger pump. Actually serviceable.

Pieced together a tecumseh flathead for power, will build a cart. Should be minnnt. Lh318sa, cast iron sleeve.

Should be decent and reliable. That's high on my list of things to buy in the future. So what made you decide to go custom made and not just off the shelf ready to run, just add gas and oil? Guessing probably cheaper overall and you wanted reliability.

Yup, just using what I have, and looking for dependability. And I like building things, this is a 7 foot bench I made
from free steel, and a sheet of marine plywood. I will use the same metal on the cart.

Got a switched outlet wired up all nice like , and some led lights hung.

Taking a few days off from work the first weekend of October. Have to help my dad purge some stuff so he can get ready for a long deserved retirement. Also means I'll be going to Wisconsin to pick up that VW Buggy. Hope to get better pictures of it and get a better idea of what I'm getting into with it.

Not sure at the moment. My guess, somewhere near Hudson, but I have no idea. Have to leave early morning that Saturday to go pick it up. More pics will come when I'm there. Probably won't start a thread on it until I have it here in Nebraska next summer. But at this point, plans are to at least get started at first. After that, plan is to build a new frame and use everything I can salvage from the current vehicle. As um unique as this one is, it looks very shade tree and the person must've been a few Buds deep when they built it. If I plan on driving this often as a weekend ride and on trails, it has to be a lot safer. So new chassis is in order. If this current engine and trans is shot, I'll have another on standby long as it works.

Well it is the cause of and solution to all of life's problems...At any rate, it's going to be nice to have a project vehicle. Not the buggy or Go-kart, but it's the next best thing, maybe better to some?

The job got done, amirite? That's the american way. Full send.

After completely finishing the flathead tecumseh, I got the pump in and done
figured out the pump does not fit the bolt pattern on the engine.

So after building another motor with a new 420cc block, side cover, rod, and piston.
And the crank, cam, balance shaft, head, valvetrain, ect from a ex concrete buggy gx390,
it gon rip.

Heading up to Minnesota tomorrow after work. Will send pictures of the buggy on Saturday. I guess the farm is around Baldwin, Wisconsin. From there, dropping it off at my dad's new place. Going to be a long day.

Last night my LG flat screen TV decided to stop working. Sound is good, video gone. Pretty sucky....but hey.....

Ya know, my LG flat screen did the EXACT same thing... I was bummed out since it wasn't that old. BUT, I did a quick google search and found the fix. I'll look for the link again, but from what I remember,,, your turn off the TV, unplug everything for a few minutes (just make it 10 minutes) THEN, turn the TV back on, hold the "menu" button down for 10 seconds and... WA LA!!! Your have your video is back.

Picked up the buggy today and dropped it off at my dad's lake place. It's mostly constructed from 2"x2"x12ga square tubing, haphazardly welded with a stick welder, porosity and poor welds for days. Stupid thing is very heavy, a lot heavier in the front that I had thought. All the buggies I've seen, you could lift the front end with ease.

The real wheels that were on there were a Chevy bolt pattern I believe. Previous owner or builder of it had bought adapters to go from the 5x205mm bolt pattern. The exhaust sits really low to the ground, hit a bump and you'll bottom it out. Since the rear tires were so flat and dry rotted, I took them off and the adapters, and installed 2 of the OE ones I had gotten with the lot of parts.

It has a Speedometer, Tachometer, Oil Pressure and Ammeter (Amps). Master cylinder is shot. Drum brakes are seized. Clutch is janky.

Our local Harbor Freight stores were out of the Predator 212s all Summer, and during this time the list price had gone up to $124.00. A little over a week ago they got a shipment of these engines in and the $99 coupon reappeared, now they have about sold out.
The employees there had no idea there were two different types of Predator engines and after I pointed out the different item number of 60363 is the Hemi, they had an impromptu training session.
We have had fun with this engine, but in my opinion they are not as durable as the old school American made Briggs and Tecumseh engines. I remember a buddy of mine had a 3 1/2 hp Tecumseh on a mini bike and he was rough with it for years. He didnt know what an oil change was, he just added oil as needed. I bought the mini bike and put the engine on a go kart and hot rodded for at least another summer until I got a 4 hp Briggs tiller engine for the kart. I've had several each of those two brands all the way up to 8 hp on a kart.
That being said, I bought the next to last hemi in stock today for our second Predator brand engine and we are going to modify it to the max.20201004_122113.jpg

Too bad Briggs and Stratton filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy recently. Doesn't mean much other than restructuring.
