...Started looking at what our options are for security systems...

I'd recommend ADT. They are more expensive than others, but they provide 24/7/365 monitoring.

My parents houses (they have had many houses lol) and my grandparents houses (lake house and regular house) all use ADT. And have used them for years.

ADT is very quick to call the police and will immediately send them if they don't hear from the owner when they call (to make sure not a false alarm).

Funny story: my grandparents lakehouse had an alarm go off (no one was there as it was during the winter) and ADT called and we said to send the police. Well the neighbors up there didn't hear the alarm and were out sitting on the porch...next thing they know FIVE sheriff cars come flying down the driveway. It was a false alarm, but if there had been a break in it would have ended very poorly for the burglar :D the neighbors told us we slightly traumatized them as they had no idea what in the world could have happened so badly to send 5 sheriffs lol!

No idea if our apartment complex would allow security systems, would have to ask. But we will be looking into renters insurance...stupid we haven't bought any in the year and 2 months we've lived here.

I guess all this month they are having people enter in a drawing and giving away in-store credit which can be used online. U.S only. Just head over there and sign up for it.

Well I got a job at a jet ski shop. I went and interviewed last fall...I was worried they wanted to use someone else since it was so long, but they just were waiting until spring weather.

Only part time, but I coach tennis the other days of the week. I start at the shop March 13th...going to be 6 weeks at part time while I do tennis then they are going to re-evaluate; might go full time then.

The guy who owns it was the lead Yamaha tech for the entire southeast years ago. He's going to basically be teaching me the stuff around the shop...diagnostics, repair, upgrades, etc. Kind of like a paid apprenticeship.

His wife runs the I guess "business" side of it...she's going to teach me that part of it as well. Checking people in/out, computer stuff, parts orders, etc.

I hope it goes well in the 6 week period lol...they will hopefully hire me full time if I do well. I wanted to go more on the technical side for a career. I got a 2 year degree from the local community college but did not like my time there lol! Hopefully this works out :D

Thanks! I am excited. :wai:

You going to move for this gig? You're what, about 40 miles from the state line?

Not sure yet. It's only going to be for a few days a week until the spring, so I'll likely commute. It takes about an hour and 20 minutes to get there from where I live now (outside of Athens).

However, if/when I start full time I do not want to drive it every day; some family members have a lakehouse that's only about 25-30 mins from the shop so I'll probably spend the night there until I can get my own place if it all works out. Just have to play it by ear. I can be flexible :D

Wow!! I didn't realize it was still snowy there...it was low 60s today here lol.

Yeah we got dumped on over the weekend, think it was close to 5". All the roads in town are still garbage, hard snow over a layer of ice. Have to swerve side to side to get any traction. Winter will be later and later each year, which doesn't bother me.

I would just like to say that it has been in the low 30's degrees Celsius here the last week or more. A little snow would be welcome right about now

It's amazing what snow will do. Apparently it attracts all the incompetent drivers to the road, so they drive 20 to 30mph under the speed limit, or they go too fast. Just saw a Van get high centered on a snow bank and it caused traffic to a single lane because the police were directing traffic.

Aw man, you're right. Mid/low 20's next week. That blows.

Yes, yes it does. I though we were past the cold weather and about to start spring :ack2:

LOL I wish you had gotten a pic of that! How does anyone manage to drive a van onto a snow bank :p
