That we did.
As far as the whole "search" function thing goes, I'm quite sure we could sticky bloody everything and it won't help. Some people just refuse to put forth any effort before asking questions.

the thing is that people resort to the forum because they cant find any answers by them self which is fine, but then they say " its not an FAQ because i couldn't find the answer" then they post the thread asking how to remove a briggs 5hp gov

If you don't like the person's post, don't answer it. What difference does it make if a question has already been asked? Part of good, efficient research is asking questions; and if someone will answer it, you have saved the time from having to do all the searching. As slow as this site is, I have been scared to ask it to search anything.
But from reading this thread, I would say that there seems to be a few people who think that they should police everyone and send people they don't approve of, packing. I don't like the "texting" language and vocabulary either, but it is entirely within my control to ignore them. There is no reason to bash them. In addition, I would point out, that almost every post I read that complained of others' spelling or grammar, was horrendous, grammatically speaking. For goodness sakes, why doesn't anyone know that grammar does not have an "E"? I think that I will need to find another Kart forum that is not governed by a couple of teenagers that need to improve their literary arts education.

The thing is though is that SOMEONE has to answer them and it's usually the people who wrote the contents of previous threads. This can be time consuming and unneeded because it is already answered. I find your final statement a bit too much but that's only my opinion. I feel this is the best forum out there and the level of activity is unmatched. The reason that this thread was started was that there was a recent abundance of new comers who posted illegibly or asked common questions that could be answered with a sticky much less a thread for which they have to search.

if you don't answer stuff whats the point of a forum just a big list of un-answered questions and angry new-comers

i've grown up with computers, and, well, i don't get half of the ways of searching. if i search for a given problem, (i use short and simple terms) i tend to get 10 to 20 posts that have nothing to do with what i wish to know. granted, stickies for governor removal from various engines, jetting procedures, etc would be nice, but if their wording is different from their (the searcher's) wording, they may not make the connection. by regiving answers, you become practiced in those questions.

Just a searching tip, select search thread titles over entire posts. This will only return results with your wording in the title, not some off topic comment (most likely made by me) later in the thread. We should sticky a "Searching Tips and Tricks" thread in the FAQ section.

if you are on here long enough then you can have your own say, some of us have been on here for years, so before you bash this forum just think about the members who are on here to help day in day out.

Oh good luck finding a forum as easy to use and friendly as this one.

I know that I am by no means a vet of this forum but I do feel that I am one of the more active members. Checking in before school in the AM, when I get home from school (there's a lot of catching up to do, do you people work or have school??), and at least twice more before I go to bed.

Hmmmm, ...

Seems you have a misrepresentation of the thread in general. I don't think ANYONE here is ragging about these peoples post as you suggest that their are grammar police here.

If anything, they are helping the grammar challenged out on this list and mostly by their peers. Their is no excuse in the world to come to a public forum and type the way they do.

Is it cool, ... probably amongst the challenged, .. who knows. Is it hurting them in the long run? Yes it is!

You should have seen an employment application that was handed to me the other week. I actually couldn't read it. It was full of the Ebonics/Texting style that I had to get one of the younger employees to translate it for me. :toetap05:

Needles to say, ... I filed it in the correct basket, ... the WASTE BASKET!

Now how far in life do you think that individual is going to get doing this?

Probably pretty far in the court system. Without a job, ... he will resort to crime in the end, just to feed himself, it's inevitable. Wouldn't you agree?

I say this as a lucky individual. Why;

I passed 10th grade and joined the military 2 weeks after my 17th birthday. Did I graduate high school, ... NOPE! I went back on reserves but was activated during the Iran contra and had to leave school without graduating.

I have learned everything I know the hard way and it truly has hurt me in the long run. It took me until I was 30-35 years old to make up the lost opportunities.

The only people I actually ***** to about their grammar, are my three kids. And it's in my place to do so. If not, ... one just might be "Eye-balling" your possessions right now.

Your handle is "CKC & Dad" I am assuming you are the Dad, and with that assumption, ... Ask yourself this, ... would you let your kids start off in life doing this only to grow up with these bad habits following them at every turn in life?

Once a younger person realizes that their typing is the only thing we see and it's the only way we know who and what you are. Make it a good experience and you will be rewarded with the rest of the population WANTING to engage with you, ... otherwise, ... it's a lonely road to travel.

Regards
Bill

pretty much the same here, i do not consider myself senior, but i do think the majority of my post are useful and legible (spelling and grammar are my worst two subjects, but i'm getting better, and i don't use most of the abbreviations, but i did get tired of writing torque converter every 5 seconds and laugh out loud just sounds weird. the only other difference is i haven't started school yet, but that is soon to come.

typing "TC" rather than "torque converter" or "lol" rather than "laugh out loud" is 100% understandable IMO. Its one thing to use common abbreviations that most everyone will understand. Its another thing to leave letters out of words just because your too lazy or stupid to include them. My texts are 10X more understandable than some of these new people. He//, my friends that dont have qwerty keyboard phones type better than these people.

There is a distinct difference between the occasional spelling or grammatical faux-pas, and a complete and utter sodomy of the English language.
Some folks just don't get it...

I agree 110%. Typing abbreviations such as TC, JS, WOT, IMO, IMHO, IIRC, etc. is just for convenience and are easily understood. When I see one of those I read it as if it was the actual words. Comments such as "lol" and what not are to lighten the mood and keep things loose. They are, IMO, parallel to the smiles that we all insert.
