Using direct drive will not hurt anything.....coasting or otherwise.
Where do you guys get this stuff?

i mean with a rateo the engine cant handle at take off. and coasting would be slow bwcause of the drag on the engine

54 tooth is way too small for 18" diameter tire.
Look for high 80's or low 90's or another clutch will burn up.

that should answer your question especialy with 14 tooth

If I use anything smaller than 69 teeth, my power curve turns to mush...and my tires are 7" smaller than yours.

according to the speed calculator, at idle you would be going from 20-25mph with a top speed of 50mph.

**** alright well the cog is already on its way so basically i couldnt be going any slower than 20mph unless the engine is off?

either that or put it up on blocks then pull the recoil which will be harder because of the drag from spinning the wheeles with such a high gear

yea i guess devino is right i idnt think of tha its not like you can pull start an engine at like 2000rpm. and buy the way i hope you can jump nto the kart qwickly lol, wait not lol that would be bad

He needs to find himself a nice hill. The only problem is getting it there.

yea pushing a cart up a hill while lifting up the back tires or pushing agains the engines compression and drag through a 1 to 6 rateo, ummmm....., no. plus the extra drag from the wheels and engines compression ect would mean it would take a while to get to speed and that = bigger hill which = more pushing kart up hill which = ugg which = just kidding this time lol

By the way, if brakes are worth anything at all, they should easily stall engine at high RPM.

yea but it could decreas the life span of your brake, right?

if u cant pull start the engine cause it is too hard and it is to hard to push it and jump in then put it on blocks and wrap a rope around the wheel then u get better leverage

good point but you would need to pull the rope way way way faster than normal. and we were thiking of starting it by coasting it down a hill which still wouldent be easy youd have to go soooo fast to get it started
