Gonna start a build thread. Will probably take off slow. I'm in the process of finishing my mega moto 212 in time for Redbeards meetup in May.
The build will be copied after a kart my brother built. Starting with a yerd dog spiderbox. I was able to pick one up cheap the other day. Only thing that I've done is remove the padding off the rollcage, removed the broken lights and removed the seatbelts.
Plan will be to reuse the swingarm, use a stage 2ish duromax 440 that I have on the shelf. All new front suspension.
Motor has a billet rod, champion rockers, nr racing torque cam, and mikuni 32mm flatslide. Motor ran great.
Anyway here is a pic when i picked it up. Nothing special, stock spiderbox.Resized_Screenshot_20250309_153904_DuckDuckGo_1741697725752.jpeg

Took the driver side seat tracks off and started to clean them. They were caked with a chain lube type of lube. Super gummy. Sprayed them and scraped wiped all I could. The majority is un reachable. So I'm soaking them on max heat and running them through the ultrasonic cleaner. Then I'll use a dry lube on them that doesn't collect dirt.20250322_195953.jpg

Those ultrasonic clearers are awesome! I was late to the game on those. I use on everything that will fit now. Gun parts, RC parts, chains etc...

Looks like you have a good plan for the kart and look forward to future updates.

Have you ever been to one of them before? I have heard that it's a pretty big deal in the mini bike world. At my age living in Southern California, I'm pretty sure I'll never get there. But after you go I'd be very curious to know about how many people attend the event. Would you mind posting your best guesstamate of how many people and bikes show up?

Not much going on. Received my 1/2" heim joints and waiting on my 5/8" heim joints before I go any further on my knuckle dimensions. Going to reach out to find a local plasma guy to cut some knuckle parts for me. Also getting the minibike going is priority at the moment.

Update, found a local-ish plasma guy that I can send drawings to. Once I get final design and dimensions. I will build a mock up out of 1/4" plywood or sim. Then send off for a quote.

If I'm gonna be too busy to work on it much, might as well buy parts. Rear rims, tires, rear wheel hubs, axle Bearings and hangers. And a jerry can/fuel bottle. Will post pics when things arrive.
