new to briggs flatheads/ is this engine worth using?

So I brought up the bearing idea at the machine shop I work at and showed a side cover to them and they simply said that taking that much material off to install a bearing will only weaken the engine because you have to take soo much material off. I'd suggest drilling some new oiling holes for the bushings and the cam.

:wai: Going back to my Raptor engine building days, I found these numbers. This is a Raptor number: 555209 PTO cover for (2.047" O.D. bearing), 692007 ball bearing PTO side (2.047" O.D. x 1.005" I.D.) and 495307S oil seal (1.630" O.D. x 1.000" I.D.). The bearing and seal are B&S numbers.
