Well
Just got a steering rack off my buddy for free.
Came off a 88 mustang.

Man i'd sell the rack, im sure you could sell it and buy another from a junkyard and still make a decent profit. A rack from a stang is going to be worth way more than a rack from a Toyota!

I doubt it!
I cant see this rack being worth much.

What kind of right angle gearbox did you use?

Got it on ebay, Its a 1:1 worm drive, with 5\8" shafts, With outputs on two sides. Its smaller and will work better on the bike.
Its fairly small but it weighs like 15lbs! Im pretty sure it weighs more than the original box.

Ok guys, got a camera, Hurry for halfway decent pictures!
Haven't done anything to it lately, I need to hit tractor supply for a few things before I proceed, and also pick up the shock I just bought.

That's one awesome setup there! Twin Briggs on a motorcycle! SWEET!

It will sound like a HOG! Those twins are great. Good job on the build, can't wait to see the end result of your hard work!

Ha Thanks man,
Yea it should sound good, I'm not using those headers though, I built those for my go cart setup, but I will be building a new exhaust out of the pipes laying all o ver the ground there.

Heres the caliper I'm using for the rear, originally picked it up for the gocart, But decided to use it for the bike since its more suitable for a bike anyhow.
Im trying to get a dual set to match for the front.

More goodies! Got some shocks from a place in town. The guy there has tons of bike parts, and he sold these to me for 10 bucks a piece,
The one of the left is for the bike and the two matching ones are for the cart.

Bottom mount tacked,

Welded

I had to reweld the top mount several times. I had to adjust it so its sprung a little high to compensate for the motor, gas tank, transmission and rider weight.

And I might still have to move the top around some more. I will figure it out later when the engine and everything is bolted on.

Just a little tip whenever you tac a real tac is 3 seconds long to get enough heat into it to hold anything. Also clean your material off a little better for stronger welds. Most people think 1 second is a tac weld.

I've been welding for a while, and Now I weld a lot at work. The welder at work is a serious welder though, The one I have here is a little flux core wire welder, It just doesn't weld near as good. But the welds on that plate are strong, just arent as pretty as a mig.

And yea I know, I didn't get too excited about cleaning it off, but cleaned it enough to get a solid arc.

1 solid second on a mig set for spray transfer will hold just about anything for a good while. Where I work, most everything is set on 29.5 volts and 700 wire speed. So 3 seconds at those settings, you burn through anything under 1/4". We weld wide open on just about everything. I must say though, it did take awhile to learn to weld that hot on 16 and 14ga steel. I made a lot of holes that first day doing that. 11ga and wide open is normal for us and we are quite good at it.
