battery negative wire... it goes from engine block to battery negative post. now one red wire from solenoid goes to battery positive post. and other red wire goes from solenoid to lug on the side of the starter.. All you need to do is take a wire and run it from battery positive post to your keyswitch B labeled lug. Your switch is now powered. to crank the engine take a wire and run it from keyswitch S labeled lug to that small post on the side of the solenoid. your kart will now crank from the keyswitch. but you do not have magneto connected! So that wire not the one with the connector on it the other one goes to magneto labeled lug on your keyswitch. now pull the spark plug connect it and check for spark. watch Your fingers around all the spinning parts. If you can connect the block ground to negative battery post and the solenoid power wire from solenoid to positive battery post.. All you need to do is finish the connection with the big red wire from the solenoid to the starter lug. Now take a flathead screwdriver and touch the small connector on the side of the solenoid to the big wire running from solenoid to starter lug. the starter will jump to life and spin your engine over. Now it’s wire from positive battery to keyswitch B lug.. then it is M labeled lug on keyswitch to magneto ground wire. (not the one with the connector on it) and lastly a wire from small post on side of solenoid to keyswitch S labled lug. Thinking the wire coming out of the engine with a connector on it is a charge coil wire. Here's a video on installing an electric start kit on a Predator. This will give you a better understanding on how they work.

Yupp it’s the charging coil. I‘m not sure how he wires that hence why I skipped over it in my diagram entirely.. wiring it to start run and shut off is easy though.

Thanks much for the feedback folks. It is greatly appreciated.

Today, I returned the Predator to HF and went all in on the 11 hp. I spent some time laying out the switch wires based on your guidance and also on clues I found from the colored wire remnants on the cart itself. Progressing nicely...

I also wanted to look into why, when we first picked it up, we did not seem to be getting any spark. So I tested the coil (it had a lower reading but still above 2.5), cleaned the magnet, gapped and reassembled and low and behold...the plug was sparking when I cranked the shaft with my cordless drill. I decided to push my luck and see if I could fire it up with a little taste of fuel...but no go. I am going to look at the carb and governor tomorrow and check the settings. Would love to get her making some noise by the close of the weekend.

What does confuse me though is that the 2 black wires coming off the coil lug are connected to nothing. I can only assume they are used to shut the motor down either via a kill switch, low oil sensor, etc.
The quest continues... I feel like Indiana Jones!

Most of the coils I've worked with had one black wire on a lug and that was for the kill switch. For now maybe don't worry about those wires, I don't think they're necessary to start the engine. Your coil could be bad. Does it look like this one?

Take your coil to a mower shop & see if they have a cheap test coil you could match yours up with. Use a business card to set the coil air gap.

Thanks KT. There is only one lug on the coil with 2 black wires connected to it, so I think you're right. Maybe they had kills in two locations cock pit and at the motor.

The buggy machines I had shipped with two engine kill buttons, this way you can kill the engine from the driver's seat or back at the engine. Imagine trying to shut the engine off from the driver's seat in an emergency situation with only one switch back at the engine. Yikes!

The white connector on the back of the coil is the coil ground wire to shut it off. if yours has two posts or wires then They would both be kill wires.1C8B800D-40F3-4420-A9E6-D5A2E4CC020B.jpeg

You'll need a fused red wire from the positive battery to a solenoid post.

So in addition to the large cable from the battery to the solenoid and the 16 gauge wire running from switch lug B to the lug on the solenoid, I would also need a 16 gauge fused wire from the positive battery terminal to where on the solenoid?

Umm I’m not sure either looking over my kart and it’s your diagram bare bones. I have the battery wiring like your diagram. I have the switch powered off the solenoid and that’s correct. then start and magneto and that is it. It starts and shuts off with the key.
