See, motors such as this are based on 1950's technology and shouldn't be pushed beyond their design limits.
Even in the future, the same holds unfailingly true:


Scotty says, "Keep the #$#%#$-ing governer on, unless you want troubles, Laddy!" or "Overspeed with care."

my freind took off a governor on a lawn tractor and was screamin down a dirt road and all of a sudden BAM!!!!!!!!!!!! and the piston comes outthrough the fire wall and hit em in the leg.:oops: i also know someon who did it wid a snowblower and exploted. jus dont over do it is all

Well for the piston to come out it would have to snap the rod and all the head bolts and then go through the fire wall. That's alot of carnage! And WOW just WOW if the piston realy DID shoot out and hit his hand he would have no hand left. I see this all the time at the race track. It's just a nasty nitrous backfire blowing off the air box. And plus he was racing the next day after this happened.

Personally, I've never found the need to remove a governor... With the right gearing and a TAV-2, it'll get the job done as is. In my case that equals to 35 MPH on a 6.5 Briggs powered BSR...
