Ah finally I am able to upload some pics, before it wouldnt let me due to sizing issues :censored:

Anywho, I am still in the process of acquiring sufficient funds for parts sooo im just taking some slow steps.

I have to donor motor that I posted earlier in this thread and I am attempting to transfer the clutch onto the motor I am going to use on the kart. I took it apart and cleaned it the best I could: (sorry, i didnt choose the best background for the pic :roflol:

I have a mysterious part that came out of the clutch as I was taking it apart to clean and I dont now where it goes :mad2: it is the bigger of the two snap rings

My other problem I have encountered is trying to remove this part from the shaft of the donor motor. The mechanic that I used to help me repair the 8hp said to just pull it off. I didnt really understand what he was trying to tell me. Possibly use a gear puller?

Thanks guys, I just started to try and remove the pulley from the 8hp...lots of WD40 :D

I have not been doing this that long, but I think I have the same clutch off an old engine that came with one of my projects. I don't mind snapping a few pics, while taking it apart if it will help you get yours back together. I have 2 new clutch's so this one will not be used.

Im still having some trounle with the wheel hubs. I am not sure which are "better" than the others. There ared so many different varieties and styles and sizes that it can get really overwhelming. I was looking at hubs on this page http://www.bmikarts.com/shop/?shop=1&cat=255 and on this one http://www.gokartgalaxy.com/wheel_hubs.htm. THe BMI prices are very ranged for many different types of hubs, while the GKG are expensive for pretty much all the same...Help!

I have a problem that seems to be very common on this site, my engine shaft is one inch and the clutch is 3/4", I think. I was talking with a guy I know that owns a metal lathe and told him of my problem. He suggested that instead of taking the whole shaft out toget it machines, we could make a step down adapter tha would fit both sizes. Most likely held on by set screws. What do you guys think?

I think you should buy a 1" centrifugal clutch. After getting this old rusty one you have machined to fit the clutch could possibly fail because of prior abuse/rust, it is also probably only rated for about 5-6hp. Here is a nice cheapish 1" clutch http://www.bmikarts.com/item/Clutch---1-Bore-411941-or-411935-2249
this would fit your engine and it would be ready for action.

You do not have to buy hubs for rear wheels. If you look at this wheel it would be perfect for your setup.

These wheels are 6" wide which means with the 40" axle(http://www.bmikarts.com/item/1-Live-Axle-4000-717) 2 of these wheels(12") would fit perfectly for your 21" wide frame.(21" frame+ 12" wheels=33") This would mean you would have 7" left on axle for bolt and spacers! Also, for these wheels to fit you would also of course need key-stock.

Hello everyone, I am still kinda skeptical about this package: http://www.gokartgalaxy.com/kart_control_hardware.htm . will it be compatible with this brake caliper: http://www.bmikarts.com/item/Mechanical-Caliper-400282-7699 ? Im wondering if the rods wont be such a hot idea. Anyway, I gave my engines to a friend to work on installing the clutch, and I am trying to strip the paint this week. I am looking forward to posting some pictures of my progress (slow and steady :D) Maybe be able to order some parts too, but not all of them. Thanks for your help!
