ok, the post you have all been waiting for:

The Kart works!!

Hooked up the kill switch and the throttle cable this afternoon and took her for her first ride. Its a little slow on the take off but nothing unbearable. Everything seems to blur going full speed down the street too.

I did run into a few problems though (as to be expected)

-I flipped the chain once. I think when it heated up, it expanded and came off.
-When I let off of WOT, the engine backfires once or twice.
-Brakes need some adjusting.
-fuel tank leaks a little in the side (previously known problem)

The little 10" HF wheels held up very well. After hearing of Blue's experience, I was a little skeptical.

I took a vid, might get it up later tonight.

Thanks for all the help guys! :cheers2:

Awesome :wai: How's the steering/handling?

The steering is actually pretty decent at speed. TO make a tight turn, like at the end of my street in a cauldesac, you need to gas it a little to come around.

Anyway, I just gps'ed it....27 mph it said. Then I ran out odf road and the chain flipped again :ack2: Yeah, I should probably fix that.....

The dinky 10" Harbor Freight tires worked better then expected. They lasted probably a couple hours of driving.

Then this happened...:ack2: Luckily I caught it in time and was able to drive home (slowly lol).

Thinking about getting these one of these wheels for the front when I can.

I think the quality of most of those surplus center tires/rims/hubs/bearings/tubes could be questionable, and since they are internet only you cannot thoroughly inspect them before spending money. I would highly suggest some go kart specific equipment, I find that AZUSA makes good stuff at good prices. I usually buy AZUSA products from gokartgalaxy.com.

I case you didn't already realise, that's due to scrubbing(tyres being dragged sideways). Before spending too much money on tyres, spend some time trying to reduce/eliminate the cause

Yeah, I did realize the front wheels scrub. The turning isn't that great (per mentioned before). Its funny though, only the left front tire is scrubbing, the right isn't.

For 5 bucks its not a bad deal to go get another one. yea yea I know "harbor Freight tire" and everything but I think they held up pretty well. For 5 bucks you can't go too wrong :cheers2:

I am planning on trying my hand on a skateboard wheel chain tensioner next week because I am having some problems with my chain coming off still.

Thanks! :cheers2:

EDIT - I never got up to full speed in the video.
