the turbo is shot! exessive play in all direction + both wheels have grinded against the housing... :censored::mad2:

wow that feels like a big punch in the face...

If the turbo is made by Garrett then you should just look for another one. but i think these turbos dont have rebuild kits or parts but i say abandon and improve.

lol ok sorry inside joke there.

but dont think rebuild kits are avaliable for turbos this small you have a better chance getting another one rather then rebuilding it.

here are some links to see if we can help get you back on your feet.

hey thanks rotore! i searched on ebay but i only found the first one not the gt15

i'm thinking of going a different way... like sticking a high-speed brushless motor into the compressor and making myself a "supercharger" i'ts speed would go proportionnal to the throttle...

i would do that... lol

yeah but when the seller write "AS-IS" if you do that he will promptly tell you to go **** yourself!

keep the turbo dude supercharger would be to much work on a engine that size but a gt15 is slightly bigger then a kp31 so with the mods you have on your engine will do nicely maybe a little lag but you'd definatly hear it spool up.

i contacted someone in france and he given me some info on my turbo...

its a test bench tubo that was used to test the smart's engines at the factory...

he'S currently trying to ID it precisely and source parts for it... in france LOL

second gt15 you linked does no want internationnal bidders and the price of first one will probably spike up in the nex day... i'll keep looking...

i'm about to win a airesearch T04 turbo lol guess for what it is!!

was warm outside today so i pulled the engine from the cart... again lol

intake is full of oil and you can see oil leaking from the intake gasket all over the block

so here's a warning! be sure your turbo has the proper seal to be ran in a draw throught setup

so... my interpretation of all this mess is that the vacuum was pulling oil from the turbo's cartidge into the compressor, it was then fed to the engine (lol)

looks like a combination of non filtered/cooled oil and oil loss by the compressor caused it to fail!

now i need to find another turbo...

GT12 and a GT15 are good turbos for this application. aswell as a RHB31. im trying to stay away from the smart turbo simply because i dont want to have to deal with the whole exhaust manifold and not haveing any bolts for the exhaust flange etc

a little love from a cutting wheel and the manifold's all gone! lol

as i could tell on ebay the smart car turbo is somewhat the cheaper you can get... rhb31 are somewhere like 300$+ and its roughly the same for the garretts gt12-15...

i'm currently bidding a smart turbo i'm at 150$ shipped and i wont go higher...

my issue is theres no way to bolt the turbo to a custom manifold and no way to make an exhaust. which is why im trying to find a GT or the other one. i dont have acess to a welder etc so any welding is gonna cost money.

the irony is, i have complete access to a CNC machine and waterJet and all the cad software. for free. but i cant get anything welded :roflol:
