leaf blower rebuild, eventually to power little bicycle, fun!

that sounds cool/expensive (why must they go together). i'm gonna use some 1/4" flat bar, some 1"sq tube, and two pieces of 1x2" rectangular tube(for jack shaft bearings). so this build will cost me, gaskets, sprockets, bearings, keyed shaft, and chain. not bad! one problem with push start is that leaf blowers start with full throttle, but i can easly just lift the rear wheel up and pull the starter.

EDIT:what do you guys think is a good ratio? 12" tires. if i can i wouldn't mind being able to go up-hill

yeah i meant to make my own head.

ive thought of a rad and fan.. but thats too much for a mini motor.

gear ratios for those motors should be 12:1, the video i posted goes over that.

can you mod that full thro setup thing?

if not you can just hold the throttle wide oopen

full throttel is just the way it starts best, lift bike up, open throttle, pull starter, let go of throttle, put bike down. 12:1 is for larger tires, but i'm not sure if i wanna go too fast on this thing, so 12:1 sounds good. on the plus side i was just reading up about mass law and found that if i keep direct drive (direct drive is not an automatic tranny is it?) it will be legal to ride all over the place!

EDIT 3: just did a little test on my actual leaf blower (the one used to clear leaves and many other um..... interesting activities, lol ) and i can start it no prob without full throttle, just needs to warm-up.

in my opinion, direct drive is basically any clutch less drive system.

leaf blower tag........ one person has a leaf blower (on foot), the other is on a single speed bike with a low top speed. if the person on the bike gets a huge blast of air from the leaf blower, they loose, pretty stupid, but some how entertaining, lol.

3000 + or -1000, not many idle higher than 3500 though.

thanks, i guess i'll just have to hold off on buying sprockets, i'll get a tach (should own one anyway) to measure the leaf blower, i also need to figure out what speed i wan't it to go at during idle. i'm a bit annoyed right now because one of my piston rings snapped now i got to either sort one out locally or wait until like weds, and pay ridiculous shipping . hope fully i should be able to start welding the frame/bracket next week after school (i got a nice 10lb spool of lincoln wire ). i'm gonna set it up so that i can still use the coaster brake, and be able to start it (or assist it) with the pedals, if any one has a good source for cheep sprockets throw me a link.

i get my sprokets usually free from a guy at my local bike store.

he built a chopper with a 2 stroke snowblower so he knows what i do.

kinda awesome i get so much freee stuff lol

if you have a drill press or lathe it could make bike sprockets easy to use.

i wish i had a press or lathe. i get a few bike parts and some random hardware and a few abandoned mowers for free but thats about it, and once its gone, its gone.

so whats your drivetrain like?

engine sprocket (fixed), jack shaft sprocket, 2nd jack shaft sprocket, sprocket mounted to left side of wheel. bike pedals, sprocket, coaster brake mounted to wheel.the reason i'm not mounting the drive sprocket to the free wheel is so i can start the engine with the pedals and maybe assist the little 24cc.
