ok, well i'm 99 percent sure idle is 1800, max is somewhere around 7000. i have decided against the jack-shaft (too complicated), and i'm just gonna a get a 6t and a 72t sprocket, minimum speed will be about 5mph, but it will take a while to reach that, and ill have a kill switch within reach. i'm getting a bit annoyed now, this engine won't start, got spark, put my thumb on plug hole pressed down and pulled the recoil and it blew my thumb right off, so i got compression. i have spayed carb cleaner in there but it just gets blown right out the exhaust, no fire, so i wan't tp figure out whats up with that then ill think about the carb (which has bean cleaned), new fuel, new fuel lines new fuel filter, exhaust doesn't have too much carbon (pull recoil and a puff of air comes out), no sing of leaky gaskets, and the cylinder is nice and tight (so is the crank case), spark plug is snug, and from what i can see timing is good. whats going on!?

edit moved this question two its own thread, its more likely to be acknowledged there.

i (russ) figured it out, timing was off and these dang things have the key cast into the flywheel, so i gotta buy a whole new fly wheel (only 4.50, but the delays from shipping are what annoy me)

like i said it sorta works as a tach, only approximate, and pretty annoying to use unless your in the shop. prob a you tube video about it. take calc apart, solder wires onto the = button leads, then rig it up to the spark plug, punch the + button, then press the 1 button, so every spark triggers the = button and adds one, get a stop watch and record the # on the calc after 1 minute.

EDIT: you could prob make it better if you really wan't ed, but thats all i was gonna need.
this is how i found out my rpm, i know the max is prob approx because he prob modded it but what ever,

yup but if there is more load on the motor it gets lowered obviously so shoot for 6,500 or 7,000

i always want to rebuild a motor even if it runs but then i always end up breaking stuff and it doesnt work. shoot gas or that cold start fluid stuff into the carb and pull until it revvs and dies.
