So it's 6.5 HP lawnmower engine VS a 14 HP modified engine. I never compared cost here. I'd really like to see a race because I can guarantee you, Your going to run out of gear in 660'. I've seen how the older lawn boy engines are built and I have to say some of it aint too impressive. But I do agree, If my large kart ran a Centrifugal clutch similar to yours you would probably get the hole shot/midrange.

I'm not forgetting anything. I've worked on/rebuilt many performance 2 strokes including sleds and dirt bikes. All do respect Russ, You DO have more experience then me.

I do not wish to use a CVT so it would not be a fair comparison. I prefer the old school approach.
All things being equal...you wouldn't stand a chance.
Out of the box, Lawn-boy's will outlast/outperform anything (equivalently sized) China has to offer.
Take a look at what it cost you to "soup up" your clone.
All I did was add a $30.00 NOS carb and remove head gasket for more compression and voila...clone killer.

That's great, although I cannot stress how much you and Tyler bicker :ack2:

Seriously though, that's terrific, remove the gasket, get more compression, alter port timing, and a cheap carburetor.

The Clones have not been around long enough for you to judge how crappy they are, a Briggs and Stratton would have been a fair comparison. Lawn-Boy's are great 2 strokes, my friend has a 4 stroke version (it's absolute sh%t TBH), but the 2 strokes are great.

But... that does not mean 4 stroke < 2 stroke. The likelihood of you winning is great compared with Tyler, but he judged the performance of his kart AS IT IS currently, compared with your dual motor cent. clutch setup. It'd be a fair race lol...

IMO, if it was me, tell everyone on DIY to find a parking lot, measure a certain distance, and stopwatch it. Easy "shutter-upper".

...and let those engines wind out a little more!
Bigger track is not an option. I'm lucky to have unlimited use of parking lot (sometimes it pays to brown nose a little).
Hard to tell from vid, but engines tend to run rich at top end. Takes a lot of tweaking and adjustment and can vary from one day to the next. I've done the math for max piston speed, and they can take more rpm. Maxing out twin carbs is proving to be a challenge.
What happened to your sweet hair-do...
Let's say I've been "incentivised" (?).
Sometimes ya' gotta bite the bullet to get what you want (desire?).

That's.... a beautiful thing to see, Russ!... (eyes tearing up). It's been fun watching this forum for the last few months.... seeing crazy ideas and all sorts of napkin-doodles turn into real video proof of concept. BIG FUN.
Racing? Almost impossible. Every one of the karts here were built with different intentions. It really would be an Apples to Oranges thing.
...and don't mention trying to get all of us together for any kind of meet. Who has the time or $$$ ? Not I.

SH_T, Russ.... you coulda (or already have) hit 50 with one motor on there. The second one seems to make it really shoot up to speed quicker. I know you went for "Butt Simplicity" (a beautiful thing in itself) but fully tweaking the set up could involve both motors direct-chain driving a jackshaft at a 1>1 ratio and then a torque converter primary on the jackshaft, driving the secondary mounted to the solid rear axle. HUGEly complicated, I admit. (On the up side, I just realized you sync the motors 180 degrees apart using that method.Starting would be weird. One motor would "Start" the other when it fired.)The other thing might be to go for a taller ratio on your existing setup. The acceleration is already there in abundance.

...and THEN you need to ship it HERE for some desert-proving grounds top-speed testing!

Hmmm... with a 54 tooth on the back, that would net you 63 mph at 6100 rpm....
Pack your GPS and a cloaking device, so the cops don't see you flying down the road! (Wish you had more area to wring that thing out in.)
