update:

Seeing the jb weld fix did pretty good as usual, I.... as usual, got a different idea.

Change of course... as per the norm.

Cop car, on the shelf for a bit. I realized I'd just just gotten the wheels that MAKES the baroness. That's the fun of this. They're manco... the original frame is manco... what the heck. These 6" ones would have been too tall for the rear of sarge anyway.

Then there was the engine issue. Sure, I liked the tecumseh... but in the end, these all have to be fast and nearly interchangeable when it comes to wheels & drivetrains.... so.... I have numerous GX200's.

Time to get creative here. This thing's gonna roll soon.

Huge thanks to my new friend Daron... these wheels will do nicely.

Now for some custom wheel hubs back there... and some wacked out engine attachments. Yep.

Measurements: 4" wider and 5" longer than Sarge.

I do not, but I can find out, I know someone who lives nearby there. If you would come with me one day I will show you a testing ground so big that you can have fun on without the worry about the insurance liability of a land owner but as you know it is not paved and your karts might get a little dirty.That track you are asking about is on the Allen Ranch Road. I have contacted a Rodeo producer that I know lives right by there that is going to find out for me and I will let you know.

Kelly, I have been informed that this track was used by the Utah county sheriff's department and other nearby police agencies as a test track for the officers training, it is currently for sale in case you are interested. But then I found out too that they were going to use it as a supermoto course at one time and they tried to for awhile and here is a video of it from youtube.

Update: (part 1.)

Weekend to do whatever so doing some trading with "trader john" (as I call him) yields a mini bike in trade.

Why?

On close inspection of the pics, it had a set of wheels that just happen to be vintage... vintage wheels made by precision.

I had to have them... so I traded him his son a bunch of stuff I'll never use.

On closer inspection, they're usable but have their little issues... PERFECT! I hate using perfect vintage stuff on my rides, so we'll do something with em.

Fun Fact: Did you know... Tri Star wheels are the exact same bolt pattern? Yup!

So... using tri stars for the inside of two front wheels with some covering... you end up with a vintage front wheel.

For the back... The shape of the two halves I used here was questionable but.... never fear, I"m here.

Cut this, trim that... and viola! Inserts for 6" rears that should look the part. So, we'll put them aside for something soon.

Next up, I had a sprocket carrier for a set of these precision wheels I once had, and guess what. With a small bit of filing, they fit into the remaining tri star wheel I have... perfect for the mini bike. Yep.

Update, part 2.

Just some cleaning & reorganizing.... seen here, 3 rides. Yep. So just some pics. You can see that the Baroness is a tad larger than sarge... and U-51 (a.k.a. Moving violation) is about the same as the Baroness.

More to go, but closing in on them as runners... Then onto the Tonka R/T & such over the winter.... of course that, and a test run on the ice.


Oh yes, the last pic is for you "predator buffs."

If anyone remembers the engine I once tested (A greyhound blue clone from harbor freight... then this predator I have)

2 Observations for ya'll.

1. That blue greyhound will still rev to 5K with only the governer removed... and it's spark plug wire is still nice looking.
2. The predator? In 1 year, the valves float now at 4000 and the wiring... well, it's the last pic. Figure she's gonna blow soon.

My opinion? Predators are garbage and weak. If you're gonna do a 6.5 motor... do the Box Stock Project or just buy the honda GX 200 & be done with it. Save yourself the headache ok.

Disregard the dust & debris in that pic though, it's just dust as I sat that thing on the shelf a while back and haven't looked back.

Don't feel to bad Kelly; at my current job, back when I was just a set up/operator in the CNC dept., two of the other operators on my shift got busted by HR for having brought real porn to work to "pass the time" while their machine's were running. They tried to defend themselves by claiming "everyone else was doing it". And since I was the only other operator that had a magazine on my workbench, I got dragged into it.

To bad for them, the magazine I was reading was a back issue of Modern Machine Shop that I had bummed off of one of the engineers. The joke that comes up now when one of the engineers brings me a stack of back issues is that I'm getting a delivery of" machine porn "........

Update:

Done with work & dinner, clean house... time to keep going.

You know, I just cannot come up with the right paint scheme for the cop car. I just can't. Every fricken time I do it... it looks crappy.

So... there's a certain charm in just flat black... everywhere.

We'll let the stencil work/lettering speak for itself... that is, when I do it. That'll be the white accents.

For now, back to just all black & make it run.

Up today, that glass red light. I struggled with just where to put it but in the end, I found just the place... right back where I had it in the beginning. Problem was...how to mount it and get the right effect.

I had a crappy gas tank sitting around and wondered... would the light screw onto it? It sat nicely on the other one but it wouldn't really work too well.

Yes. Yes it will.

So, in a strange way, it all works out here. The gas can, cut just right can cover up the half a$$ed tack job that I did a while back.

Then, the trim... and I found more of it! That nifty 50's style...

... wait for it....

... ribbed (see, it is PORN) aluminum stock plate found in old storm doors. This will complete the look when done.

Then, some clamps here & there... and it all comes together pretty good.

The last pic: Some unused manco pedals cut off make nice additions to the Baroness' steering wheel which is kind of bare.

Update:

I was right... when it comes to artistically making it work, over-thinking it is always my worst enemy.

Dinner done... let's wing it. Cut out some stenciling from some printouts I made... spray them on in a haphazard sort of way.

Yep. This will work. It's got a certain old look to it, clunky yet sexy in a way. (see, there's one of those references again... Porn)

Next, mock up the motor mount and exhaust. This one's gonna run down & out under the axle, just like some old car would.
