Hi, after a lengthy time away...

I think it's time to get back to a few things and plan for the summer. My life is in ok shape although a bit strange these days... but that's ok.

A few updates:
1. The baroness, the motor is being changed to a honda GX200, with some mods of course. Just wait until you see it. Why? With our track going to the briggs lo206, I have a pile of GX200's.. might as well use em for something... and the Tec is just too big & in the way.
2. The dump truck, cop car, bonneville spirit, semi... bla... on hold for a bit.
3. A new Kart Rod will be built soon, and it's Sarge's counterpart. A bit different version of the Sarge.

Sarge is sleeping peacefully in her trailer with Urban Defiance... and we'll bring her out for a tear down & repaint soon. (same color...) When that happens, she'll get actual headlights and maybe a few small additions (maybe a trailer too!) but otherwise, she's my perfect one.

Time to find the front clip for it... she'll have only one headlight and be a bit odd.

All other projects are on hold for a bit.

Within a few days, I"ll post some pics of the stuff I am willing to get rid of, for cheap.

Dude... the thing is made of metal... this will do nicely. Already has a nice place for the single cyclops headlight... MUA HA HA HA!

Or maybe not, one never knows what I'll do next.

I'd like that.. some honeycomb mesh behind the grill and it get's a nice 'sporty' flair...

Thanks, more on that when I find the right frame for it... this weekend will consist of rigging a different engine on the Baroness. Yessiree... !

The Tec was nice, but I want something fast.. er.

For anyone following along... yes, it will have the same filter... and a big ole black elbow scoop on the shroud of the GX I'm putting on her... and I want it lower... if that's possible.

Update: Got home & went for the utility room... where there is a magical bench... with 4 GX200's from the days at Millers. Seeing the honda is now not in use, I have my choice of these.

I decided to pick one used by some fellow competitors last year. I saw this motor in action and she was one of the 4 fastest on the track.

This is the motor that will go on the Baroness. After some slight modifications, paint, and of course some flair!

Ah well.. I still regret the twin inline engine idea was abandoned

But I'd accept that the GX has a bit more oomph than the tecumseh,
although I like the flathead layout for the baroness a little better ...

In the end, the baroness will still be my second favourite kart of yours no matter what;
so go ahead, maybe the gx will look better than I expect

Update:

Ah, saturday morning and the smell of paint, coffee and a few minutes outside...

I present, the motor for The Baroness... and a quick test fit for looks.

One more thing to add to the motor, a big black elbow piece of PVC pipe, attached right to the fan shroud pointing forward. That'll be strange enough I think.

hmmm, *shrugs*
looks too 'modern' somehow..
I think you'll need some vintaging dust from the magic shed to blend it in with the theme a bit more,
but maybe the elbow force-cooler pipe thing will already work.. we'll see.

Maybe instead of black PVC those aluminium bendable air ducts..
dull and heat discolored it might look nice *shrugs*

Yep, just wait.

Update: While shopping around with my wife, I snagged something I just had a hunch would work for something.

Take one old spare tecumseh H50 shroud, combine it with some oddball chrome thingy I found at the thrift store... and we have the makings of one strange front end clip... perhaps Sarge 2? Perhaps the German Version of Sarge?

Sid? What's the german word for Sarge?

This one will get odd, I promise. One headlight, kind of a robot weird kind of look... more on that soon.

especially with the rivets.

hmm, I have no idea what you'll do with that, but it in itself has a nice appeal,
so yeah.. find a spot.

you could mount a giant fake(or even real) gauge..

Oh I know... (okay, this is most likely UNDOABLE, but bare with me for a second)
drill a .5" hole perpendicular through the funnel-thingy.. slightly tilted IYAM...
and run a glass tube through said hole.
Now seal it up, the glass tube and the back side of the shroud, to make it a fuel tank
with the glass tube being your fuel gauge... (maybe backlit)
paint it red..... done second engine perfect replacement ... *whistling and strolling away*

How do you spell oxymoron in english?

the rank would be "Feldwebel" or just recently replaced with "Wachtmeister"
the latter is also a friendly nickname for a Cop..
neither could be considered sexy...
Navy would be Maat (Obermaat), one up... Bootsmann for staff sergant...
not too sexy either

Oh wait.. Staff sergant... that'd be "Stabsunteroffizier" (army and airforce)
or abbreviated "Stuffz" (or Stuffi if you're taller than him ) that might work *shrugs*

A bit of an update for anyone new that may tune into this.

Part I

I'm Kelly. I'm artistic and mechanical... and a few other nifty things depending on who you ask... and I make themed go karts out of whatever I can find at the time.

In true hot-rod building style, I create these nifty works of art that are my go karts. I affectionately call them Kart Rods.

Rarely will a nut or bolt match on them and every part came from somewhere unique.

They're neighborhood street racers that call attention to themselves every time they go anywhere. Even local newspapers have featured them.

Anyway, a quick rundown of what is actually in existence and what is not, and what was dropped for the time being.

So, the first 2 pictures here are Urban Defiance. She was my first ride. The body parts come from a 1969 waverunner, the seat back is a kitchen pan, other boat parts were invoved, a plant hanger and other stuff. The motor is a Honda GX200 which was a stock SR4 Class engine at our local track. Her top speed is about 50mph.

The next two is my most famous ride of them all. I call her Sarge. She's a military beast, sporting a modified predator (hemi) engine, actual vintage Hands Racing wheels and the engine treatment was to make it look like a gas mask from the back. The front clip is a real military gas can. Other parts include a ammo box and my truck log book carrier from Desert Storm. Her top speed is around 50 as well.

Next, pics 5 & 6 are the Baroness. Originally a manco 2 seater, I went crazy on it making a side engine, one of a kind ride. Themed loosely after a plane, there are rudders and a front clip that's a bit like a plane. The front clip consists of a mailbox, a baking tin, a fan from a motor and a few other things. The motor seen in the pics isn't the motor on it at the current time.

Lastly, Bonneville Spirit, possibly the fastest of them all, sports twin briggs 5HP with updraft carbs. The front motor gets it to about 50, then you switch throttles and fire the rear one taking it to a nifty 80 (untested) MPH. She's a stretched beast. The front clip originally was an outboard motor cover for a 1961 McCullough outboard motor, sliced & chopped. The frame originally was a manco.

Not seen in this post, the Semi, Brown Thunder, the Tonka, the bus, and the cop car.. all on the shelf for now.
