A lot of CNC equipment run multiple fans of that type, in various sizes, and since the motor comes with the fan attached, when the motor goes, the whole thing get tossed. Another potentail source would be any electric motor shop, as they also get used for constant cooling air flow for servo motors. They're so cheap that no one I personally know of rebuilds them (not the servo, the cooling fan).

Good grief. Sometimes, I swear...

As if...

10 wheels.

The semi of death, kartrod style!

Disregard the pipe, it'd come straight up from the rear mounted motor... LOL

Gimme a peterbilt logo.

How would you "drive" both the rear axles? Thoughts? I didn't intend to do it, rather just have the rear one just a "spinner" but if I did, what would you do?

No, all you need is one axle; on the day cabs around here, some have the "dead" axles in front of the lives, some behind. As for making it steer better, the cheapest way I can think of is to reverse the "recommended" practice of mounting the less worn (i.e. slightly larger OD) tires at the outboard ends of the axle(s).

That theory was developed in the 1950's; on a cambered Macadam (McAdam) style road, having the larger dia. tires on the outboard side actually helps the combined rear tire set follow the arched "crown" of the road. On the back roads I live on, that theory is pretty much viewed as fact, because it works.

For easier steering, especially if you don't have a differential lying around, put the larger dia. tires on the insides; if the outsides aren't making contact with the ground, they won't add drag, thus making steering a little easier. Which of the rear axle's you decide to use as the live one basically comes down to packaging; which would be easier for you?

Small foot note; a day cab model is usually a smaller version of a standard semi tractor; as they are usually used for LTL (Less Than Truckload) duty, they usually only have one powered axle in the rear. That does not mean that they never have any power; the steel suppliers here in Michigan run Day cab units that can make out of state truckers weep.... (look up Michigan Specials on a trucking forum, and you'll see the types of rolling stock we have around here) where the entire truck is built to haul loads that most other states require special permits and full escorts to even look at...

Hope this helps...

Just picked up an old DIY kart project locally. Currently needs a bit of attention, doesn't run, but everything seems to be there.
Doing a Rat Kart also. Got the idea from this site. Very awesome site!
Referencing from the projects, pictures, and DIY everyone has posted on this site. I have something envisioned, but I'll update as I go.
If my phone didn't have more fun than me over Christmas week, I would have pictures posted right now.
I'll have progress pictures up shortly.

Keep it up everyone!

... 5 days off and the weather is gonna be over freezing......

:surrender::surrender::surrender: I wish my local forecast had temps like that; it's 13* F outside, according to my indoor/ outdoor thermometer, and according to TV8, this is going to be the warmest night of the week to come, with highs in the low teens F.........:surrender::surrender::surrender:

Do we have a "BRRRRR" emoticon anywhere?

oh, we are still in the 50s (~10°C) around here somehow...
global warming thing perhaps ;)
(warmest winter I can remember... a week ago we had up to 18°C (~65 F))

But I guess we'll have snow in April or something :D

Maybe Bandit Two will be here in February to look at. If I remember right, back 28 years ago when I actually laid eyes on it: straight cent. clutch to giant driven sprocket, two rigid mounted live axles coupled by chain across two more sprockets. But then, I was only 11, I could have missed something...

Thanks for the storyboard
I think I can see it :D
I had to google skull valley of course ;)
Steph was the one next to sarge on the poster, right?

Ja, I like it... I just don't get the windmill idea somehow...
swinging sign and/or maybe a tumbleweed (ahhhh the prejudices, here we go:D)
or do you happen to have armadillos there?
then an armadillo slowly crossing the road *shrugs*

Just one minor thing..
you start with calm and slow footage, then a race..
I wouldn't go back to slow footage for too long
instead reduce the last shot to maybe ten seconds (now about 20) and add more race footage...
I THINK!
hard to tell with just the storyboard, but assuming the timing is about what you had in mind, I think having a longer "centerpart" and a shorter "end" would be a more suitable dramaturgical arc (can you say that in english??? sounds odd!)

Neat!

Steph is actually the girl I drew, my avatar.

The swinging sign/squeaky windmill thing is to show a forgotten place, desolation. Not much of an armadillo to speak of here, maybe they're here but I've never seen one. Rattle snakes, yes.

It's all a work in progress, so I love the comments.

Ah.. mindwiping pit babe, adding a more "Lara Croft"-esque type of character. checked!

Yes the forgotten place, desolation part I get,
I just cannot seem to find the connection to a windmill :(
But maybe that's just me.

Rattle snakes are too much of a predator to convey the "nothing's going on around here" idea :(
Back to the tumbleweed I guess ...

Now that I think of it,
I'd switch the shots of Steph running up the hill and the first UD appearance,
that way UD could rush past the scenery in a blink of an eye (affecting the tumbleweed/sign) connecting the scenes.
// a curling armadillo would be nice :D //

It's too bad you already used Kart Rods - I prefer the other combination: Rat Karts....

Hmmmmm- Wait a minute, that means it's available for me to use. ....Never mind. ....
