Update:

Today started at 8am and nothing but kartrod stuff all day long.

This is part 1 of 4 of today's update, Brown Thunder is a go!

I had it in me to finish it today and I'm pleased.

I won't go into it much, it was just A LOT of little things to get it right. All is attached, killer mini-tank, tail light trim, all of it.

In the end, I didn't finish the other hub and slapped on the old tri-stars on the back because I wanted to drive it.

Now, with 3 runs under her belt, she's a reality. Gnarley

The pics don't do it justice however. I guess it's just one of those rides that you gotta see in person cause her stance is really aggressive, yet somehow old.

Part II of today's update: Sarge, Finished.

Headlights on, 15 RUNS under her belt, a reality. Dig the gunners handle, mounted & all is good to to.

Maybe a few more things to do here & there, but it's all good.

Part III of the update: Urban Defiance, I had to limp her home...

Running around a few times today just playing around, she was getting a bit weird. Soon I realized what was happening...

The outer bearing on the front left wheel had jumped ship...

Back to the carport to fix it up with some REAL bearings (sealed with the snap rings I had laying around)

All fixed...

Then the part I think I got into this for in the first place.

Living up to her name, Urban defiance here got pulled over by the PO-LICE.

I don't think I told anyone that it happened before... so now there's a new mark on her. A 6 point star with some hash marks... the number of times she's been pulled over.

LOL

no no no... LOL

I'm sure it was some lady that I scared the crap out of during one very fast run... cause I was really just cruising slowly when the cop pulled right in front of me at an intersection... pointed at me and said:

"take that home"

He didn't follow me or anything... but he fuzz is now very aware of my presence... and they're about to see a news article all about it. I'm sure that'll turn out well.

MUA HA HA HA HA

Continuing on:

The newspaper interview happened today and went off well, although I probably talk too much... but hey, I'm pretty passionate about these 4 beasts I've made.

Ah, the update...

Home stretch now. 3 run, the 4th is on her way.

Bonneville spirit, although my 3rd contraption, is the last to run.

Her she is, nearly all bolted together, engine mount is done, rear axle on, front clip is mounted, everything spins smoothly. Just gotta figure out a brake caliper mount and throttle method...

Then, as I sat & stared after 2 straight days of building, I realized that my original plan would be the best one.

A motor swap. Even though this one looks good with what it has, it needs to be faster... and lower, and, well, more. And maybe not. Never know what I'll do.

More tomorrow.

Here's the only pic I took today. (the stars, number and name are photoshopped by the way.. cause I'm changing it... a little)

And, update of a prior update:

Just before this interview, I took a few hours & drove around looking for places to run and...

of the 10+ places I had planned on, only 2 would work for a race site.

On a side note, I did find a new OHV site that I didn't know about... and it has flat dirt tracks.

AND: for you "mystery/crop circle/odd crap" type of lovers... it's not often you zoom in real close (using google maps/earth) on a place that MOST folks would never zoom in on...

It's amazing what things you find.

It's really there... but wasn't 2 years ago. ???

Look close.

Really, it doesn't matter to me. I didn't ask for the interview (although it's cool) and I usually just wing it. If this gets even ONE other member, I'll be happy... but I'm happy anyway with what I've done.

aaaand... continuing the saga.

I've been a bit absent for a few days because of numerous family things going on and today was the end of that, so back to business.

Last night before bed, I spotted something cheap in the local classifieds. Pictures didn't really help but I figured it was worth a look should it be there in the morning.

...and as I do each month on payday, I put 100 bucks aside to buy whatever I want and today, at 8:30 am I hit the road for downtown SLC to get this cheap pile o' parts... a manco 2 seater that was a buggy... or something... but hey, parts is parts.

Well, I came home with it, for 80 bucks. What was included?
1 brand new rear 1" axle, good bearings, 6, 6" rims, 3 live axle hubs, 2 front hubs, 4 good sealed bearings, a usable sprocket carrier and 2 Briggs 5HP motors. (one runs)

So, the sprocket carrier goes to the Sarge because it matched nicely with the overall look, this freed up the carrier I'd been using for it to go back to Urban Defiance. The one on UD went back to the vintage racer (because it is really old), the live axle, bearings, hubs, 6" rims and old carrier complete my vintage ride.

This will free up the HANDS wheels I'd collected for it because the truth is, I'll never use them because I'll just hate myself if I mess them up... so I went for a more basic old school wheel for my vintage ride... plus I have spare stuff for it should I mess them up.

Anyhoo, some quick pics.
