You too huh. I used to tell apprentices "if you failed maths, don't get into panel beating..."

It's certainly not a requirement it seems
The boilermakers comme to me because I can use special magic to work out wear plate measurements without havering to measure angles
Really it's just trig using a basic internet program

I the I tried to teach them how it works
But it was eazier to just some them the step by step process and assure them it would work

We've gone from english to maths & found the common problem: Some people just don't get it :lolgoku:

Fabroman, i didnt read through all 5 pages, so i'm not sure if anyone has made this comment.
I enjoy perusing Craigslist for good deals, just the yesterday i picked up a LARGE wooden play set for $150, this thing cost over $1500 new! SCORE!!
anyhow, i really get a kick out of the lack of the spelling that 90% of people on craigslist use.... sometimes its downright sad...

I also receive a lot of resumes and work applications for my business and i find it very hard not to prejudge someone who is incapable of spelling basic words..

Spelling gaffes grate on me- but what I just cannot wrap my head around, is when errors make it onto signs, billboards, advertising, lettering on trucks, etc. When putting something up for public display, wouldn't you have somebody proofread the stuff???

Here's a local, recent example- Brought to you by my own tax dollars. The explanation is here and the photo is below

Just did, got 100%

I really dislike when people speak and every other word is followed by a "like" or an "ummm"

A few days ago, a high school principal was interviewed in relation to the recent bushfires; I lost count of how many times she said "Umm" :worried2:

Most people would blame the education system for that but, if that's the case, wouldn't everyone in the country be as dumb as a post instead of just some?

Don't worry about it, I would be prejudice; first impressions matter &, if you're writing down your first impression, you should expect the worst...

You would think someone would've noticed before they went to air; the printer, the printers boss, the guy that hung it, a member of the floor crew, a member of the audience...

In this day and age of viral videos and photos, those who did catch it would probably choose not to change its fate.

The best advertisement I ever saw was about 25 years ago in Houston, TX. We were reading the classified ads in the newspaper when we found a guy selling a "rough to rain" forklift.

Another recent one (last year) that really ground my gears was the lit billboard in front of a local secondary (high) school that reminded everyone that "Remembarance Day" was coming soon. Glad my kids aren't going to that particular school.

A co-worker of mine has a high-end lighting business on the side. His truck is marked in several places advertising "Chandalier" repairs and service.

I really like when people ask

"can i ask you a question"

my response is, you already did..

:wai:

That's about as entertaining to me as "Sorry to bother you, but"- at which point I usually interrupt them with, "Then DON'T!" and walk on...

Ah, two of my favourites...

Another one is when some random approaches me in the street to ask "do you have a spare cigarette?" To which I respond "sorry, I don't carry spares..."

That's actually how we spell it over here...

I always pull out my pack, look at it, and say-" Nope, only 20 in this pack.

I knew that (tyre) -us Texans may be slow-but that don't mean we is dum.
