I didnt know what the h€¿¿ "rough to rain" was supposed to mean till I read this post..... Poorboy has it wrong though I'm sure. It was probably some hispanic dude and he was "sounding it out"....
I see a lot of that on craigslist. ....

That was a long time ago, so it took me a while but I just remembered another ad we saw in the same newspaper. Another guy was selling a "20,000 pound wench"

She's a big girl.

I always wondered whatever became of my ex.......

What was it, I can't remember exactly: Captain Sum Ting Wong, co-pilot Wi Tu Lo......... and nobody caught that before it went public?

:ack2: :ack2: :surrender: :surrender: You know Poboy, I really DIDN'T need that visual...:ack2: :ack2: :surrender: :surrender:

LOL....In truth I have a small beer gut that's partially due to age. I'm 6'tall and 149lbs and don't look too bad without a shirt. But this does bring up something.

I don't wear shorts because I never know where Colonel Saunders might be. .. (chicken legs). I don't take off my shirt unless I'm within 20' of a swimming pool- but other than being thin, I have well defined muscles and shouldn't gross anyone out.

So why is it that these 350 lbs.+ lard azzez with a gut that looks like they could give birth to a basketball team insist on running around outside with nothing but a pair of baggy shorts that show off a healthy crease from the backside? How's that for a visual?

Here's another one, overweight women with cellulite wearing tights... :D

I don't know if the Red Neck Comedy tour has made to your shores, but one of the comedians is named Bill Engvall.

In one show, he states that he believes there should be an application process for anyone who wants to wear a thong in public. I believe he's right.

Bad eye's!!! Bad eyes!!!!!

How about some of these gems from Walmart....

:ack2: :ack2: :ack2: :ack2: :ack2:

That's just one of the reason's I don't shop at Walmart; there are a couple of others as well, but I think it would turn this thread into a flame zone if we went there.....

I'm sure that Sam Walton is probably pretty :censored: about the path that his company has been taken down since he passed away; the fact that they seem to intentionally go looking for the people in the photo's you linked has probably got him spinning in his grave.... Not because he wouldn't have taken care of his customers: no, it would be from his successors willingness to allow the spiral to the bottom to not only continue, nay, even encouraging the pace of it.....

Are you kidding? Walton's as happy as a pig in poop. He isn't gonna care if weirdos arrive in droves with fistfuls of cash, as long as they bear said cash. It may not be the most beautiful demographic, but there's no arguing that it works. A weirdo's money is just as much legal tender as yours or mine. At the end of the day, bux are bux.

I buy my groceries at WalMart on a weekly basis. Why? Well- amongst 3 stores within a reasonable drive of me that sell groceries, they come in cheapest by a very respectable margin. I got a single income, a wife, 2 kids and a big dog. We all have healthy appetites. So- if I have to put up with the odd 300lb baby-momma with far too much flesh and far too little fabric covering up those abundant charms (ick...LOL)- Well- as they say-

"Everything's for sale at the right price". And I'm buying. And Sam Walton don't mind one bit...

The financial reasons you've listed are all perfectly sound, and I would be the last person to argue with you about it. My personal distaste with Walmart comes from dealing with it's subsidiary Sam's Club.

We (the family farm) took out a membership when they first opened in our area because they were actively trying to attract the farm market; advertizing in the farm press with how much they could save you on things like lubricants, batteries, and tires, especially tires (cheap radials for a 4WD tractor start in the $500.00 to $1,000.00 each range).

We decided to nibble on the tires; we ordered a set of 2 fronts for our loader tractor (7.50- 16 ten ply agribibs). They were about 20% cheaper than our usual source but only lasted about 1/3 as long. That pretty much summed up almost everything we sampled, including their "Universal Tractor Hydraulic Fluid" which was definitely not up to industry specs. 8 to 10 hours of operation after just topping up the fluid with this stuff and the transmission and hydraulics are making a lot of noise.

Do a complete oil change; the stuff coming out had all the symptoms of a non compatible chemical reaction, and the filter housings were full of metal debris. The transmission was never right after that, and Walmart's legal department are past experts at dragging their feet. We gave up trying to get satisfaction out of them when we realized it was going to cost more in legal fee's that it was going to cost to replace the tractor with a newer one.....

It was very shortly after that that they dropped all of their ag specific products and abandoned the market, and from some of the rumblings in the ag media, we weren't the only ones who got burned...

I shop 4 stores:.Dollar Tree for smoked sausage, ice cream, breaded mushroom bites, McDonald's clone fillet of fish and McRib sandwiches, various spices, snacks, greeting cards (2 for a dollar), various snacks and some meds/ personal hygiene products and laundry soap.

I get most of my groceries from Aldi. Large eggs are always around a buck and a gallon of milk less than $2. Butter @ $2.Colby chunk cheese $1.49.Avocados are from $0.39-$0.59 ea. I buy coffee, breaded fish fillets, bbq chicken wings and a lot of canned food. The meat there is overpriced.

For almost everything else and especially meat- Albertsons.

I buy almost no groceries from Wal-Mart. Get mostly non-grocery items and not too many of them. But toilet paper and paper towels, clothing, watches and some sporting goods (Academy for the rest) and car tires, and some gardening stuff. ......ect......

But here's my biggest problem with Wal-Mart and most people don't realize this. A Wal-Mart opens up. Pretty soon all the little mom and pop businesses and even some big names are put out of business. Nobody cares. Then comes the day you need some out of the ordinary item not easily catagorized. You spend a bunch of time searching the big store, not finding the item or anyone to help you. Finally you do and they say that they don't have it. You look at this 18 year old kid and wonder if he really knows what he's talking about, so you search a little while longer before realizing he was right.

Then you start thinking about where you can get that. Oh Yeah!!! - Mom and Pop's Hardware. ..........oh wait- they're not there anymore! :censored:

It's getting that way with almost everything but, IMO, auto parts & hardware stores are the worst hit.

Once upon a time, I had three (I think) mom & pop auto parts stores & 2 or 3 hardware stores to choose from; if you needed one O ring, they'd sell you one (or just give it to you). If you needed a more specific part, they could usually get it that day If they don't already have one in stock.

With the introduction of big chain stores, the little stores have disappeared & now, if you need one O ring it's "we only have them in kits & you need to buy the whole kit worth $40".

As for specific parts, "we can get that for you in about 3 days & you need to pay for freight" WHAT?

Hardware stores are no different; once upon a time, if I needed 10 screws, I could buy 10 screws. Now they all come in blister packs. So, what if a blister pack contains 8 screws? To do the job, I then need to buy 2 packs, now I have 6 screws over! Ok, i'll probably use them eventually but, that's not the point, If I want 10 screws, I should be able to buy 10 screws!

A weirdo's money is just as much legal tender as yours or mine.

That implies that we're not weirdos :lolgoku:

I would rather spend a few more dollars and avoid being around the last echelon of society. My kids don't need to hear profanity and we'd don't like looking at fat rolls in tights.
I do thank god that we are financially able to do so.

LOL. We call then crumbed...as in crumbed mushrooms and crumbed fish

I HATE having to buy a whole bunch of nuts, bolts, screws etc when I only need a few. It drives me crazy!!

Happily, I have dodged this bullet twice recently. 1)Working on a generator, needed 2 O-rings for Tecumseh carb. Odd size, none from my O-ring supply fit right. I was convinced that local OPE shop was going to push an entire carb kit on me. Instead, sold me just the two O rings. 2)Had to replace the fuel pump in my van this weekend. Broke one of the stupid plastic fuel line clips (Ford, EFI, push-connect fittings). Nationwide chain of auto parts stores sold me a single clip for 88 cents!

That implies that we're not weirdos :lolgoku:

LOL- As I proofread what I wrote, this dawned on me. :D

That's what I live about working for a big company

Firstly I stay away from any large commercial stores

Just go straight to heavy industries

I just go in and say I want an Oring and it's for this company and it's cash sale

They quickly jump to attention for one of there biggest customers
Then they get me the part quick smart either on the spot or that day
I've got Catterpiller to fly me a $2 part overnight from Singapore

For wood and steel I use other industrial mobs
Hardware stores are too expensive

Just goes to show money really talks
Even if it's not your money

I agree that it is nice having access to wholesalers and getting business prices/rates instead of regular consumer prices/rates. I've saved thousands through knowing the right people.

Ohh, and landuse please put that in a spoiler if you ever do that again. I think I'm scarred for life now. :ack2::ack2:

I wouldn't mind paying retail if I could get what I wanted but, that seems to be the biggest problem these days...

I too have saved a great deal of money on nuts, bolts, etc recently due to a local industrial supplies store but, on the other end of that stick, it cost me a lot of time. The guys there know me now & I could go in & get 2 bolts &, sometimes, walk out without a cent changing hands. I once walked out with 6x 10mm x 50mm bolts with nuts & washers for nothing because the fella couldn't be bothered doing the paperwork :lolgoku:
